Strongest title in the seris

Fallout 2. My introduction to the series and the biggest game in it. The story, towns and factions were great (not as great as the ones in Fallout, though) and there was so much to do in it. And the feeling of helplesness when you are thrown into to the wastes with nothing more than a spear and a mission to find the GECK. :fallout:

1.FO1: My favorite game ever.

2. FNV: Great writing, improved on many concepts in FO3, and multiple endings.

3. FO3: I have not played FO2 so I cannot make a statement on that. I only like FO3 as my third because I have not played any other Fallouts beside the ones mentioned.

Not just that, but that your tribe depended on you. I love the feeling I get inside when I set out on the wastes carrying everyone's hopes.

Yeah but then
Spoiler
You get it, go back, and everyone is dead. Wouldn't it have been better if he just didn't go get the GECK?

No because he would have died right along with everyone else (the warriors that is). He would not have been around to free them from the Enclave and create New Arroyo.

Do I like.. Go to Navarro to save them? I don't know where I'm supposed to go to save them. Something about an oil rig.

Spoiler
In San Francisco there is an oil tanker. There will be people living on it. Talk to their captain and he will tell you what is needed to get the ship going. One: Fuel Two: Control Chip Three: Tanker Fob. Navarro has the Tanker Fob, its in the base commander's office.

*sigh* so hard to choose...

1. Fallout Tactics
2. Fallout 3 (BoS related reasons ofc, awesome exploring and i live close to DC so it struck me deeply)
3. Fallout 1
4. Fallout 2 + New Vegas (tied and no Fallout game should go below 4th place, except that other one that killed my faction's reputation, not even going to list it)

1st: Fallout because it started it all

2nd: Fallout 2 an awesome game talking up the story of Fallout

3rd: New Vegas, Great writing, many references to the Originals and is alot like the Originals.

4th: Fallout Tactics because I enjoy the game play and story

5th: Fallout 3, I did get alot of game play out of it but its a game trying to be Fallout but failed big time.

fallout 3 succeeded in being a great bethesda game, anyone who loved elder scrolls most likely would like FO3 or any bethesda made game, so it might of failed in your eyes but FO3 was more popular then every fallout game before it combined and sold more games than all the previous fallouts put together, so to say its a failure is completely laughable, i'm glad its not like the early fallouts, i like how bethesda made it, if they made it like new vegas it would of svcked.

Westoftherockies you've really got to stop pointing this out. Fallout isn't meant to be like TES and that's what the fans of the originals are trying to point out to you. Yes I agree it was an awesome game but after replaying FO2 i'm finally beginning to see it wasn't the greatest fallout game it could be (though I can see how it tried), Saying that though i don't think NV did much better it was a little better at being fallouty but it was still a long way off imo.

Hit the nail right on the head, except that FNV was a lot more closer to the originals than FO3 was :D

Your arguing style svcks. Fallout 1 and 2 were released in a market where RPGs were horribly unsuccessful. In the context of the late 90s Fallout 1 and 2 did fantastic and earned and is STILL earning Interplay a lot of money.

1st fallout 2
2nd fallout nv
3rd fallout 1
4th fallout tactics

fallout 3 dosent deserve to be in my fav fallouts

The same, but my 4th is Fallout 3 instead of Tactics (since I didn't play it - many years now trying to bring myself to play a non-RPG fallout =p ). Besides, it wasn't so bad if we force ourselves really hard to ignore what someone on this forum called "Bethesda Magicka" xD Not only "not so bad", it's good imho.

1. Fallout 3
2. Fallout: NV
3. Fallout 2
4. Fallout Tactics

2 was a great game, but it's 2-D nature meant it wasn't able to immerse me in the Fallout world as effectively as Fallout NV and FO3 did. Although NV was superior to Fallout 3 in terms of weapons, armors and game mechanics, something about FO3's atmosphere and setting makes it my favorite game in the series; it drew me in like none of the others.

You also have to take into account the markets at that time, Thats like saying in the $20 bucks today had the same Value as $20 in say the 1940's. Lets see ya watch a movie for a quarter these days. :P

Because there are more gamers now than there were in the late 90's?
Should we compare sales numbers for a game from the 80's to a game from the late 00's as well?

Well, objectively, the strongest game as a Fallout game is the first one.

Personally, I prefer New Vegas. It's a great middle ground between old and new, though there could be some more old than is already in the game (node system). With mods it shines even more, however (fixes scale issues with population, more RPG mechanics, etc.)

EDIT: westoftherockies, just stop it. This thread is about your favorite Fallout games and why. For you to bring up your argument is completely uncalled for in this thread and it just isn't appropriate. I'm not sure specifically, but I may have done the same thing before to, which is why I'm not really blaming you, but I just suggest you stop unless you want to give your reason for liking Fallout 3 the most in a way that doesn't incite an argument.

Fallout 2.

It was worthy to be called Fallout 2, a sequel of Fallout. It had everything Fallout had, only more. Fantastic dialogue, excellent world building, lots of humour, and a great plot. There's tons of things hidden in the game that even after 5 years of playing I'm still finding something new.

Pretty much word-for-word what I was thinking.
