[BUG] Stuck after using terminal

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 2:16 am

When I exited out of a terminal, I got stuck and couldn't move.

Maybe it's because that skeleton is so close to my feet?

Why can't I post links? :/ And if you don't allow it, why can't I upload a image?

This is a refresh rate bug that Bethesda needs to fix. There are loads of posts for a work around. I have this issue aswell.

This happens when running at high framerates with iPresentInterval=0. This setting also makes everything in the game run faster than intended, though turning it off is necessary to stop the ever-present microstuttering. I've been told that limiting the framerate to 100 fps should fix things but haven't had a chance to test it myself.

Yeah, I have this too. I don't have iPresentInterval=0, but I do have a Gsync screen with variable refresh rate.

I also have G-sync... iPresentInterval=1...

But I have changed FOV and turned off mouse acceleration in the .ini files...

And I've disabled vertical sync in the Nvidia control panel...

What should I do? I have a 144 hz monitor, so I want high refresh rate. And I don't want screen-tearing. I want a FOV of 90 and I can't play with mouse acceleration...

Interesting, I thought the problem only occurred with iPresentInterval=0. In any case, it IS caused by high framerate so the only way to fix it is to limit your framerate to a lower value. I'm going to try 100 first and hopefully I don't have to go all the way down to 60.

I had the same problem last night, got stuck at every terminal.

I tried all the other fixes I could find, but ultimately the only thing that worked was going into nVidia control panel and turning off G-Sync for Fallout 4.

That solved it for me, so if you have a G-Sync monitor you might try it out.

Yes, finally there are enough GSync users around to make a solid argument for them! I had so much trouble with this a year or two ago with Skyrim. Thanks for reporting in, guys. Appreciated. :D

Solution. Without having to change your refresh rate. Without changing game settings/Nvidia panel. No capping yourself to 60fps.
Download MSI Afterburner
Enable and open the RivaTuner Statistics server.

(Installed with Afterburner in your start menu)

Click the monitor icon with the pink numbers in your system tray.

Select Start With Windows. You can also auto-enable it through Afterburner.

Press the plus button and add Fallout 4.exe

With Fallout 4 selected set the Framerate limit on the right side to 120

After that there's no more getting stuck or silly physics to annoy you.

You can continue to have Windows set to 144hz with Gsync on.

I played for several hours today with my FPS capped at 100 and did not get stuck on a terminal once. It happens very frequently at 120 fps.

I didn't realize I was playing on a 1920x1080 resolution (You can change this in the game launcher). I was getting about 120 fps most of the time with my GTX 970 with all settings on Ultra. However my monitor is 2560x1440, so I changed to that resolution which brought down my fps alot - to about 30-60 fps (depending on location in the game). This is too low for my taste, so I began researching what I could do.

* What I then did was deleting(moving them to desktop for backup) all .ini files and reaquire them from Steam via Library->Rightclick Fallout 4->Properties->Local Files->Verify integrity of game cache... (I couldn't remember what settings I added/changed in the .ini files before)

* I then followed this guide called "Unlock Frame Rate, Change FOV, Skip Intro Video, Unlock Console, 21:9 Support and Remove Mouse Acceleration + Other Fixes" over at the steamcommunity site.

-----* Changed FOV to 90

-----* Removed mouse acceleration

-----* Changed mouse movement to be equal in both axies

-----* Disabled intro movie

* I went into the Nvidia control panel and went into the 3D settings for Fallout 4 and changed "display technology" (I don't know the English term, my control panel is in Swedish - it's on the third row). I can choose G-Sync, ULMB or the standard one there. I changed that to standard, so the G-Sync won't interfere with the ingame v-sync... I might try the other way around since I prefer G-Sync, but that's the setting I have now.

* Since I was having far too low FPS for my taste, I went into the "GeForce Experience" application and let it optimize the settings for Fallout 4. It choosed to bring down my godrays quality to medium, object detail fade to high and shadow distance to medium. I don't really like how the shadows are fading into the scene now, but I get 60-70 fps most of the time with my GTX 970. Which I think is ok. I would prefer more though, but I don't want to sacrifice the graphics too much.

Conclusion:

The changes I've made has brought down my FPS alot which should fix most of the problems if this is a FPS related issue. I havn't tried my new settings at a terminal yet to see if I get stuck, but I'll come back here and tell you if I do.

My graphics card and monitor:

GTX 970

Acer XB270HU (you jelly? )

This is a ridiculous, nasty and hugh bug.

After 10 footsteps in Fallout 4, I got stuck on the first terminal in the game.

All those junky tweeks and fixes for this bug, are more or less useless.

The bug will return...maybe with only running FO4 in 60hz, borderless window mode, without VSync or Gsync.

will help? this cannot be the solution for those kind of bad quality check′s.

This should be a AAA title a lot of people are waiting for.

And PC Gamers often spend there money to get the best gaming exp. possible.

I have 980ti SLI System on a 144hz Gsync. 1440p Monitor. Running every single AAA Title without

any problem. Look what Wichter can bring in 2015. Fallout 4 is year away from a highprice AAA title in 2015.

It′s just ridiculous.

I will not play Fallout 4 until the bug has been solved by gamesas. I will not recommed this game to any my

friends until this ridiculous bug′s are solved. And...I will not buy a single gamesas game in the future if this is not

going to be fixed soon.

I spend 6 hours with Fallout 4...only to find a solution. Maybe borderless window mode work...it s could be o.k.

But...sorry...junky FPS with window mode?...on a AAA title...nope.

Fix this....

P.S.

Also ridiculous....no Gamma, Brighness or/and contrast slider !? in 2015?

Don t release PC Games if you may only take focus on making money with Sony and MS.

I ′m out :)

Capping my FPS at 120 seemed to only lead to intermittent success. Sometimes I would get loose but sometimes I would get stuck.

I bumped it down to 110 and haven't had a problem since, fingers crossed.

But yeah, this is plainly affecting enough people with the same specs that I'm hopeful for a fix.

Having the same issue as well. Happens at every single terminal. This silly bug has me off the game until it is fixed. My plans for a veterans day game play marathon are down fhe tubes. I also have a 144Hz gsync monitor with a GTX 980 (latest game ready driver) and an i7-3770K. I would like a fix asap. Im not trying any janky ini workarounds.

Read the sticky: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1543742-fallout-4-pc-support-please-read/

I’m playing on PC and I'm often getting stuck in furniture or seeing issue with physics.

If this issue is experienced, it is recommended the user is keep the game's default INI settings. If the user's monitor is set to 60Hz, the iPresentInterval value should be 1, and if the user's monitor is set to 120Hz, the iPresentInterval value should be 2. Setting it to 0 uncaps the framerate and can cause the issues mentioned above. If the user's monitor is set to a value larger than 120Hz (such as 144Hz), they are advised to set their desktop refresh rate to 120Hz instead, when playing the game.

G-Sync works just fine, you just have to limit your framerate to 100 fps or lower to avoid these bugs. I've been playing with iPresentInterval=0 with a 100 fps limit set in RivaTuner Statistics Server (you can do it in the game config too with iFPSClamp) and have had zero issues.

I would actually highly recommend iPresentInterval=0 since it eliminates the microstuttering bug that's always present in Bethesda games.

Regardless of framerate, you can get stuck using terminals. Your character is literally moved towards the terminal when you press use and upon exiting it is possible to get stuck in geometry/objects.

Contrary to what some are saying I recommend you leave V-sync on (iPresentInterval=1 or 2 depending on your refresh rate) and switch over to windowed borderless fullscreen. Also, make sure desktop composition is enabled if you are running Windows 7.

Well getting stuck on objects is not the issue we're discussing here. This bug relates to the player controls being disabled after leaving a terminal and this is only caused by framerates over 100 fps.

I'm not actually sure if iPresentInterval even functions in windowed mode as the Windows DWM takes over all vsync functionality when running games in windowed mode. I know some people have mentioned that windowed mode stops the microstutter, which would leave me to believe that iPresentInterval is NOT functioning since it is what causes the problem. In any case, a lot of people are experiencing significant performance decreases in windowed mode so it's not something I'd recommend.

Well framerate isn't the only problem causing this. I'm playing at 60 fps and player controls were not disabled in all of the times I got stuck after using a terminal. I was literally stuck. I could jump but couldn't get out of the objects/geometry.
