Stuck in a dungeon!

Don't take offense, deepnau, but reading about your struggles had me laughing in recognition quite a bit. No ES game since has had the kind of challenge and near death experiences you get from Daggerfall.

The good news is there's almost always some way out of every predicament--that's a great part of what makes the game so much fun. On my first play through I must have played about 3 months straight with a single save game slot, and although I was trapped in certain dungeons a lot longer than I'd like to admit, eventually there was always a solution, and my character's life went on. Definitely something I missed in MW and OB.

Anyway, good luck in your adventuring--there's no better game for getting horribly stuck than Daggerfall. :)

For some reason, my Illusion skill has stopped going up. It's stuck at 95% for some reason, I like cast 100 spells, waited hours in between, but it did not go up once!

Have you hit 100% in some other thing? If so, IIRC you can't get past 95% in any other.

The way to get around this is avoid getting 100% in anything until you've gotten over 95% in all the things you want to get past 95%.

The best bit of advice I can give you is to never leave on a quest without carrying at least a couple of cure disease potions and various other potions that you think might need.

Great advice, except it's impossible to plan to have potions if you haven't yet reached the rank in any guild/temple to have access to the potion-maker/seller.. I've had this problem many times. Of course, if you're lucky, you my find enough potions in loot, but that doesn't happen often for me.

I see what you mean, it can be hard to get hold of potions at a low rank if you're not a member in certain temples. I always tend to join Arkay, especially if my character isnt very good with magic, so I can get access to potions quite early in the game.

Yep, I've experienced that as well, and figured that out. What's weird, though, is that on occasion I could get to 100 in a second skill that had been below 95 after hitting my first 100... I don't know what was the cause of this, which I presume was likely a glitch. I unfortunately wasn't able to test this much, and see a possible relation between the skills and whether they were tagged as primary/major/minor/misc.

Try an add-on program called Dfskills. You can find it http://www.uesp.net/dagger/files/dagfiles.shtml#addons

Are we having fun yet? :spotted owl:
