Do the Velvet Curtian Quest and you'll get a lot of stuff to sell when you finish it. You Can start it by going into Room 1D and looking on the computer in the old motel just in north of the theme park.

Follow the main quest of PL (go to the mansion you see from the boardwalk) and your travel problems will soon be solved.

Just pick punga fruits and random junk to sell to the vendor on the boardwalk.

Swim out to the buoys and most of them have a stash right under them at the bottom of the water.

Do the main quest and find Nadine.
Once you find her, ask about your scar, and your travel problems are over.

There's loads of junk to sell about.

Just play normally, there's enough stuff there to help you.
