Ok so here's my story. I have already done the quest where you first get the ebony claw and then open a door with it etc. etc.
Afterwards I brought it back to its original owner in riverwood. I thought it would be funny to steal the claw back from him(which it was), and so I did. Unfortunately I got caught by the guards and they took the stolen claw away from me.
So now the claw is just gone and I need it once more to complete this quest: 'the jagged crown'. Is there any way to get the claw back or unlock the door without the claw through cheats/tricks/glitches and such?

Do you mean the Golden Claw? Whichever hold you were in when you got caught go to the main city and check out the evidence chest in their dungeons. It may be there. So if you got caught stealing it in Riverwood go to Whiterun and head to the dungeons.


Alternatively if you're on PC you can try using the console, this will probably disable achievements though and may or may not cause issues later down the line. I would highly recommend the above first though. The console should only be used as a last resort when it comes to fixing things.


You can try forcing the door open by..

- Opening the console with the tilde key.
- Left clicking on the door
- Typing in Activate
- Pressing enter
- Press the tilde key again.


You could try adding the Golden Claw to your inventory but unfortunately I do not know its item ID.

turned out it was as simple as noclipping through the door and getting the crown by myself. But it does leave concern for the console versions, because this problem could occur there as well. Is there any way for them to cheat?

The dead imperial by the door has the ebony claw. You don't need the golden one from Riverwood.
