stuck on skyrim...literally.

Post » Tue Sep 25, 2012 10:54 am

Has anyone else ever gotten stuck in a rock on Skyrim or is it just me? This isn't a rant, i found it quite funny, but i don't know if this is something that's happened to people often or if its very rare and i'm just very unlucky. After and hour of trekking i got stuck in a rock and couldn't get out no matter how hard i tried and then eventually had to go back to my last load which was a while ago. That's basically my story.

It doesn't happen often to me. It has though. I would not be as calm as you seem I assure you :P

I think I got stuck once. But when I did I was trying to mountain climb my way to somewhere and it didn't really work out. I just fast traveled to somewhere nearby and tried it again.

Nope. Never in Skyrim, but plenty of times in Fallout: New Vegas.

happened to me the other night but fast travel fixed the problem...guess you forgot about fast travel? As long as there's no enemies around and you're outside, fast travel will get you out of those jams

i misread your title, i thought you meant you were stuck on skyrim as in can't play anything else at the moment...i have that problem too :P

Yes. It happens. It can happen with your opponents also. I hit a skeever through a wall. You could hear it trying to attack but when you try to hit it with your sword your sword just hits the wall. It's caused by gaps in the meshes between sections. If you are playing on a computer you can type ~tcl to toggle off collision long enough to get unstuck.

If you haven't gotten stuck in some rocks in a Bethesda game, you haven't played them enough yet to even be considered a novice

Nah, just kidding. It happens a lot if you do a lot of exploring of tight corners of caves, mountainsides, rivers, etc.

Or between textures and walls.

Yep. When you're outside, you can sometimes fast-travel to freedom. Not always, though.

Yes it's happened to me many times before, mostly because I go mountain climbing a lot.
Me: "oh I'll just use this rock as a foothold "
Skyrim: "you're not going anywhere"

It hasn't happened to me in this game yet but in Oblivion I got stuck in rocks a few times. In NV I got stuck in practically everything. =/

Its happened to me a few times, never had to re-load though, always got out of it by either fast travelling or using whirlwhind sprint.

It happened to me once... Well... I wasn't really stuck. Here is what happened:

I was on the second floor of Breezehome, and I walked, then just fell through the floor. I must be gaining some weight... Might need to lay off the Sweetrolls.

Couple of times this has happened. Save frequently.

Sometimes this happens but more common is that you slip between stones and can't get out - that happens to me quite often when I'm climbing on cliffs and mountainsides. Using quick save after every cliff when climbing on a mountain is best way to avoid being stuck.

Yeah, been there done that! I've been getting stuck on Beth games ever since good old Oblivion. Between rocks, under rocks, between beds, behind beds, while climbing hills or mountains and once even in an empty corridor (this was FO3 though). This oldtimer has done it all :)

And that's where the usefulness of Whirlwind Sprint comes in. I'm quite the climber and I get stuck a lot on those cliffs but I'm usually able to shout myself off of them, even though noclipping is sometimes the only viable solution.

If you're on the PC you can fix it with the TCL command which disabled clipping.

Yep, I have gotten stuck on rocks in Skyrim, but I guess that is what happens when you try to get over a mountain and not use the roads.
