Fallout NV isn't available for sale, so the choice is fairly simple.

Since none of us have played New Vegas yet we can't say which is best. I'd wait until we get some NV reviews and then decide.

I like to play my games in the chronological way they were released. so if i were you, i would play fallout 3 (a couple times) first.

If you only have enough money for one, then I say wait for New Vegas. From all the info we have about it, it seems like a much better game than Fallout 3.

that would make sense if New Vegas was a sequel to FO3, but it's not, it is a stand-alone story, set in the same Fallout world (but not the same location.)

On the other hand, that might mean that he'll end up being disappointed if he tries to play Fallout 3 afterwards. One big advantage of going with Fallout 3 GOTY first is that it's fully patched and ready to go. When New Vegas comes out, there will no doubt be some bugs that will need fixing in future patches. So if you play Fallout 3 first, there'll be lots of time to identify and fix any problems in the new game.

by chronological i meant, which game they've released first. Playing older games after a newer game is released (with almost everything improved) makes it not attractive to play. Although its not that of a big difference with particular these 2 games, there is still a difference in quality.

So you haven't played either? I'd say play F3 first, it's a good game and well worth it. Then later on you can play NV.

I'm trying to decide if I should play NV or Gothic 4 first, they both come out on the same day in my country. On the one hand I'm stoked more about NV but I've been playing F3 for the last month and could do with a break.

I'd say just get fallout NV when it comes out, play it to death for a few months, then when
you've done pretty much everything and your getting bored buy FO3 :)

I would get FO3 GOTY edition. The game and all the DLCs for £12? that's practically theft. And it really is a great game, or else we wouldn't be here.

Then in a month or so (when the bugfixes for NV have come out) you can look into buying that. I know a few people who are holding off buying New Vegas until a DLC-packed GOTY edition appears. Makes sense, particularly if you haven't played FO3 yet. If you have, then I would go straight for New Vegas. probably.

I am jumping on the "Buy FO3 GOTY and play it alot until FO:NV has a GOTY Edition" bandwagon...you will have more fun in the long run.

If you are playing on a PC it might make a diff what New Las Vegas stats are. Could be your current PC will not provide the kind of frame rate you desire. So... check that out first.

I'd get FNV first. It is just a build on to Fallout 3 with some engine modifications.
