Stuck in thalmor embassy, savegame might be ruined

Post » Mon May 06, 2013 12:01 am

Please help!!

i have a level 10 and i was doing story quests (i think) when i had to enter this embassy. anyway, i should have given a dude some weapons to smuggle in for me but i didnt because im an idiot...so yeah, i tried to get em from him inside, but obviously there werent any. i got locked out from the kitchen, and i got detected. im hidden atm, but i cant fast travel and restart the quest because enemy is nearby always. all my saves are either in this mess or back at level 1. and i dont wanna start over. i′d rather delete the damn game for its retarted save options.

what do i do? im in a very restricted are with guards all over and im prectically naked :(

please help me save my game! its been great fun so far

This is why you should make saves constantly.

You're screwed, I'm afraid.

A few quick questions, to help narrow down your options:

1. What platform are you on?

2. What sort of character are you playing?

3. What is your current sneak score, approximately?

You could use the flames spell. The guards shouldn't be too high level since you're only level 10. If I recall correctly there is a set of Thalmor robes (destruction reduction) in the room to the right down the hall. You should be able to sneak there. Once you can kill one of the guards they should have armor and weapons you can use to get the rest of the way to Elenwen's Solar, and out of the area.

Set the game's difficulty to easy, punch a guard to death, and take all his [censored]. Or commit seppuku for dishonoring the Divines.

That should be your best bet. Good luck.

I don't think you can restart it anyway, once you start and leave. I could be wrong, but it's just asking to be glitched if you manage it somehow.

I think you're pretty much SOL.

can i fast travel from elenwens solar? i havent tried, and im going to bed now. because the only doors there are are either to the inner courtyard or locked with no key available :(

i actually had a save from level 9 there. not perfect but itll keep the game going i guess. huge frustration though.

so yeah, its a big circle of doors leading nowhere, even the ones saying "skyrim" leads to inner courtyards.

You can not fast travel from inside anyway and chances are not from anywhere on the grounds due to guards.

PC? Oh, then you have nothing to worry about :)

If you don't want to try and make do with the situation, you can use http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console#Commands to turn on god mode, at least to kill the first guard and loot his stuff. You could also teleport away, but that would likely break the quest, so I don't recommend it.

If you're on PC, just use the console to give yourself a weapon. If you feel bad about cheating, you can subtract your gold too - imagine Malborn being upset that you didn't give him weapons the first time, and now that you ask him to bring in weapons for you, he charges you some money for his trouble.

Oh and a general tip: Make multiple saves (save to a new slot).

i made it out! i started off killing all the guards one by one on novice difficulty :-/

then i googled around and found that dungeon guy at last. (had to enter the same door a couple times really fast to get there for whatever reason...) so i freed him, and escaped. malborn got killed by a frost troll in the process but hopefully that doesnt matter. now off to a jolly ol time of skyrim!

thanks for the quick replies and helpful advice :)

Good you found a way out! :) I think you learned two lessons from this:

1. Keep many saves in different slots. Always have a good save from before you start a quest or enter a dungeon (especially important if you're on console!)

2. Listen to what people tell you in the game. You don't always have to follow instructions - some quests have alternate solutions - but if you choose not to, make sure you have a save to revert back to if that turned out to be a bad idea (which brings us back to 1. again...).

I never managed to save him. Either he gets killed in the dungeon, or a Thalmor patrol spawns outside and kill him. :(

It took me two tries to save him. The first attempt, I was not expecting them to haul him in there like that, and I was down below. The second time, I made sure to race upstairs as soon as I was done with the other guy. I was able to save him after that. As for what happens to him afterwards, I have no idea, as I never saw him again when we split.

You need to read ten posts before the one you just posted.

I did this the first time I did the quest as well haha. But I at least had a weapon - no armour though until I killed somebody.

Yeah I insisted on saving Malborn so what I did was (after finding out that he died and later reloading) was use Slow Time and try to shave off as much health from the Talmor quickly before the effect wears off.

Once I passed the entry guard with no problem with a blade in my inventory. It was a blade for a quest that I could not drop. (Red Eagle quest I think). I'm on PC and never tried it again. So maybe this works... Anyway I had given all my stuff to Malborn. And yes I save him but never see him again.. Where can we find him for those little quests?
