A stunning example on how to inform your community about upd

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 5:08 pm

Basically, I just tried posting this in the PS3 issues forum, but I guess that's no good there, because the moderators are mad with locking power over there. So I'll post this here:

So I just saw this on the Call of Duty: Black Ops forum:

http://www.callofdut...p?f=70&t=346952

This is an excellent explanation into the process of creating a patch. Now, I thought that was great, but then I saw this:

http://www.callofdut...puvk10daj3a52n0

Now THIS is a topic that not only details all updates included in the upcoming patch, but also details exact dates into which the update enters it's next stage of development. Would it be so hard for Obsidian to do this?

So basically, is Treyarch just really good at making patches, or is something else going on?

And before anyone gets any ideas, this is the reason my old thread was locked:
"This is the Fallout: New Vegas PlayStation 3 Issues forum, not the Call of Duty: Black Ops forum." -Freddo

So I guess my thread had NOTHING to do with my concern with how Obsidian can update us on the current patch FOR THE PS3 ISSUES.

Anyways, what say you community?

I would suggest reading the rules reguarding locked threads and discussion of moderator action.

Thats the first thing I'd say.

Sorry if I'm making waves, but it's getting unbearable in the "PS3 issues" forums. Every time I log in, there's at least 3 locked topics on the top, and usually 2 of them are perfectly valid topics.

Hes saying do you think that Obsidian and bethesda should release update and patch info and is giving the black ops forum as an example.

This is the Fallout: New Vegas General Discussion forum, not the Call of Duty: Black Ops forum, and recreating locked threads is a no-no to boot? :poke:

wait, we can't even MENTION another company?

So if I say "I think that the morality system in Foo-Baz worked better than NV" that's lockable?

I don't think the OP is advertising here, he's just saying that he feels gamesas/Obsidian might want to emulate something another developer does well.

You can't critique without comparison. Or is that the point, you can't critique?

CoD: BO is a 50MB game, FNV is a 5000MB game. It's not that simple.

Have you played Black Ops? That game rivals New Vegas in terms of glitches (albeit most of them are game-breaking exploits). For instance (and I know THIS is talking about Black Ops, but it's only to make a point) I know of at least 3 ways to hit 15th prestige in the online multiplayer without having to ever play online.

Theres critisism and then there's just pushing it.

Different companies have different ways of doing things and unlike Treyarch, Bethesda don't spend their time running salve on the players feet and instead concentrate on the issues, likewise they don't put on date on the patch completion because nine times out of ten that date is missed or something is dropped from the patch to make the date. (Bet that happens with the COD:BO patch)

As for this thread, it does breach several posting rules raguarding locked threads and discussing moderator action. If the Op felt the thread was unjustly locked it would have been better if he's contacted the mod via pm rather than simply reposting the topic along with a swipe at the mods.
