First off the character was in Super Omega Beast mode thats why he wasnt detected, second in Oblivion AI who just witnessed an ally fall will attack you so it wouldnt make sense for them to downgrade that

It has already be said that sneak governs the reaction time of the NPC. Just like trying to spot Wally, it takes time for the NPC to scan their surroundings.

So if your sneak is low and you are wear that bright neon glass armor, they will be on to you faster. If you have maxed sneak and is standing in shadows, they take time to find you, time that wasn't given to the NPC in the demo.

well i, personally, would at least turn to the direction the arrow came from and hide behind my shield. . . apparently only some sort of genius is capable of that sort of thinking

No you'd stand there in shock for 10 seconds.

Who're you kidding?

It's maybe 3 seconds, and his bullet time is on during maybe 2 of those 3 seconds when he drew his bow.

Really?

I guess I'll be trying to not level my Sneak skill at all, I don't want all the NPCs to become [censored] dumb.

Yes you really shouldn't, only stinking cats who think they are people hides in the shadows. Real men look their foes in the eye as they behead them with a battle axe.

And sometimes, it is better that stuff like that gets out so we can complain about, otherwise they might not even realize it's a legitimate problem, or they'll go "good enough".

So your saying if the NPC can't see you after an attack then they should automatically run away? There is no cover system in place, and they aren't supposed to know where your attack came from. Its very easy for you to say its "stupid" when you have no alternative idea. And "Program smarter NPCs" isn't a solution.

I mean should the NPCs run away randomly? Is that smarter?

As opposed to just standing there being a stationary target? Yes.

oh yeah, im a freaking bandit in a freaking cave and an arrow came flying out of nowhere and im thoroughly unprepared. there i was discussing the price of cheese with my good friend timmy and somebody killed him! and in a cave in the middle of nowhere, no less! i just couldnt believe my eyes, why would anyone want to hurt little timmy? he was just a bandit he wouldnt hurt a fly . . . oh how we used to run through the open fields. ive never seen someone get killed before, hell, ive never even seen blood . . . oh i just stood there in shock for 10 seconds

... and they aren't supposed to know where your attack came from.

why arent they? they should definitely be aware of where the attack came from

All of your arguments are: THIS DOESN'T WORK THEY ARE STUPID NOT SHOCKED. Obviously exaggerated, but you get my point.

>First of all, he had 100 stealth what is the point of having high stealth if it affects nothing?
>He had bullet time on, it seemed longer than what it actually is in game...
You all are just going to say: No they are stupid AI SHUT UP so whatever. :brokencomputer:

Being super stealthy shouldn't stop an NPC from realizing that someone was killed right in front of them. At the very least, the character should have bent down to check the body, or ran off in fear.

If the bandit was really in "shock", then why did he pull out his sword?

How much more would you be complaining if the npc ran around like a chicken with his head cut off immediately upon your arrow hitting his friend? :P

No matter what they did people would have issues to complain about. They give npcs the ability to know where you shot from and people complain about psychic npcs; make it so npcs can't find you immediately and QQ they're dumb now!

In the moment of non-slowed reaction the npcs pulls his sword and looks around slightly before being slowed again, that's good enough for me considering how quickly todd shot.

one thing I thought of when reading this, has there ever been an RPG with good AI? I'm thinking back and I come up with games that use Doom Era AI or AI that are based off of obvious threat formulas that you pretty much know who it's going to attack next. Heck many JRPGs would be unwinnable if the AI used any sort of tactic.

I don't see how you people can defend this. It's obviously stupid AI.
If I was talking to my friend and he was killed by an arrow out of nowhere I'd not just stand around waiting to get shot myself.

What part of slow motion do you people not understand? He had barely a second to react before being put back into slow motion. In that second he pulled out his sword, what more do you want?
