Stupid Question/Comment

You guys aren't trying hard enough, there are bushes EVERYWHERE! much superior to buckets in my opinion, they come with their own toilet paper.

Like one person pointed out earlier, it wouldn't explain the massive sewer system that the Imperial City has.

1100-1200

I am not going to argue logic though into a fantasy game.

Well we all know dwarfs had flying cars as WELL as robots in real life. Yet another thing they got wrong...............................

the way i see it, in a fantasy environment where magic is used, there must be some other kind of energy to use the magic, besides just mana, how do you build mana in the first place. so perhaps what happens is while you're body naturally converts food into physical energy, then perhaps having the use of magic means that what is left of the food is converted into mana, thus how you are able to use magic. i'm sure that in such a world that magic exists, people are using simple spells for menial tasks. light fires, cook food, things like that, thus converting what would be bodily waste into additional energy.

... does that make sense?

dosn't mana come from atherius through the whole in the sky that is the sun.

Good idea, but I suspect it conflicts with lore about Magika somewhere along the line. I'm not sure though. By no means am I a TES lore buff.

*shrugs* just a theory. me and my nerd friends discuss things like this on occasion, and that's what we came up with. that and the fact that when their doing their final touchups and asking "have we forgotten anything?", generally the first thing that comes to mind isn't "we forgot to research an era specific waste disposal solution to include for additional realism"

where does a bear go?... in the woods? we can only assume so, and maybe the people follow the wildlife example. let nature take care of nature.

sorry if i'm rambling, it's tomorrow and time for me to sleep lol

perhaps in a primitive explanation. think about how the greeks and other cultures explained the rise and setting of the sun. one of the gods chariots drags a ball of fire across the sky. simple explanation, widely accepted until science steps in and dissuades that illusion and instead places a complicated discription that took centuries to get right.

I hate to break this to you, but outside of the most sophisticated citys, and castles there wasn't even modern plumbing during the middle ages...................................................... The best the average house would have is a bucket.

Yeah things were rough back then. I know we all think medieval times were all magic and wonderful due to game like TES but in reality life back then svcked. The dark ages.

You might have a point thier if nothing else its something to think about.

I wouldn't feel the need for them if Bethesda did not insist on including sewer systems - that's fairly ridiculous. I hope we see it in some form or another.

Yes it was I think that was hypnotoads mother though lol. Any way back on topic your right the sewer sytem in oblivion was to extensive for it to not be common practice in there world ergo all the bathrooms simply did not appear do to old fashion developer laziness.

I totally agree, it really ruins my sense of Immersion in games when basic human needs are totally ignored.
There was no reason that they couldn't have added toilets and washrooms in Oblivion, they just chose not too.
Before you spout off, OH IN THE MIDDLE AGES THEY DIDN'T HAVE TOILETS.
The Imperial City has a vast network of sewers, ok? If there aren't toilets or toilet equivalents then those serve no purpose, right? Make sense?

yes yes we have all recognized the need for non functioning toilets in a game.

I don't think TES needs to follow medieval history. After all this is a fantasy game meant to be enjoyed. I think it would add immersion to add a few more things:

Buckets in shacks.
Outhouses for middle class
They have sewers in IC, so why not a hole with a lid on it above that sewer?
Bath houses. It's aweful cold in Skyrim so they could have a public bath place.
Mansions should have bath tubs and servants to fill it with hot water for you, and when you activate it your character should sit in it and maybe do a bathing animation. They could give you a "well rested" perk or a temp boost to personality because you look/smell good.

Little details like these add realism and would be appreciated by a lot of role players.

This may seem extremely stupid, but I really hope they have outhouses in Skyrim. I mean it just so unrealistic having no bathrooms in Oblivion. Or maybe like the town dumping ground. Just something. :pinch: I'm not asking for any animations. Just for aesthetics. In TES: IV there are no restrooms. Please excuse me, as I'm sure I sound either insane or hilariously failtastic right now.

have you ever wondered why so many buckets exist in elder scrolls , thats wright the buckets are not only used for collecting eggs and carrots

In medieval Europe there were no outhouses or bathrooms. People would have a pot that they would regularly empty out the window. Disgusting, I know, but that's fact :yuck:

No, you're on the Elder Scrolls forums. You want The Sims forums.
This is quite possibly the most irritating answer I've seen that keeps popping up in response to similar questions, I play the sims, the witcher, fallout, yadda yadda yadda, to me they are all different games, but that does not mean they cannot share the same aesthetics, I just don't see why people have a problem with a little added realism, they behave as if they're going to catch some kind of infection.
