Stupid Question/Comment

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 12:29 pm

This may seem extremely stupid, but I really hope they have outhouses in Skyrim. I mean it just so unrealistic having no bathrooms in Oblivion. Or maybe like the town dumping ground. Just something. :pinch: I'm not asking for any animations. Just for aesthetics. In TES: IV there are no restrooms. Please excuse me, as I'm sure I sound either insane or hilariously failtastic right now.

Well In FO:NV they had outhouses and washrooms and stuff so they should have them in Skyrim. But I guess you won't know for sure until it comes out, and stuff.

That is because there was no bathrooms or designated areas to go to the bathroom.

No, you're on the Elder Scrolls forums. You want The Sims forums.

I like how the imperial city has a vast network of sewers, but not a single toilet or drain in the city.

He's not talking about going to the bathroom, just having bathrooms exist. it is, even if only slightly immersion breaking that there's an absence of bathrooms, latrines or outhouses in the game.

I want them to add actual fecal matter in the game. Including giant dragon poop.

I mean come on, all those dragons flying around and not one dragon droppings to be found. Immersion = ruined.

I hate to break this to you, but outside of the most sophisticated citys, and castles there wasn't even modern plumbing during the middle ages...................................................... The best the average house would have is a bucket.

I loved how in WoW (not that I'm a fan anymore) they finally added a quest in Wrath that had you take the most massive crap in history (after holding it in for 5 years) Maybe Skyrim will be preemptive and allow us to poop at will :)

They bathed either in the river, and depending on your class ...Peasant, Noble or Royalty you might have had the option to use soap. They did have oils, flowers etc..as perfumes.

Well then each npc should have a bucket in their house. Just something that confirms digestion.

Well they may as well just remove beds, food, books, chairs and have every interior as a blank room in which the tenant just stands aimlessly for hours. Not immersion breaking at all since apparently details don't count towards immersion.

The idea is to put people in realistic surroundings. Why would somebody eat if its not even implied that they go to the bathroom.

Oh I am not disagreeing with you I just don't think they even had out houses during the time period they are going for. However castles, and some citys like rome had special "bath rooms" that where situated over natural underwater streams, and artificial aqueducts that carried the refuge away.

Your sword clashes against the dragons scales as it arches its neck back and attempts to engulf you in flames! Diving behind some rocks to take cover something dawns on you! You climb on top of said rock and take a deep breath and exhale loudly! "Time out dragon! I really need to go bathroom right now" The beast, beyond confused at the statement just shrugs its massive shoulders and roars. "When you gotta go, you gotta go."

I'll agree that The Imperial City and Vivec should have had "Facilities", but beyond that, it doesn't make sense. Excluding the best Roman Cities, up until about 1890~, the "Bathroom" was wherever you dug the hole. You'll notice that even exquisite places such as the Palace of Versailles don't have restrooms.

I don't think TES has invented hardware for sanitation yet.

Like containers, NPC are wiped clean once in a while automatically :P

the way i see it, in a fantasy environment where magic is used, there must be some other kind of energy to use the magic, besides just mana, how do you build mana in the first place. so perhaps what happens is while you're body naturally converts food into physical energy, then perhaps having the use of magic means that what is left of the food is converted into mana, thus how you are able to use magic. i'm sure that in such a world that magic exists, people are using simple spells for menial tasks. light fires, cook food, things like that, thus converting what would be bodily waste into additional energy.

... does that make sense?

1100-1200

I am not going to argue logic though into a fantasy game.

Good idea, but I suspect it conflicts with lore about Magika somewhere along the line. I'm not sure though. By no means am I a TES lore buff.
