Stupid things said by Preston

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2016 2:22 pm

"I wouldn't want to try to assault this place" AFTER we've (and by that I mean I've) already taken everyone out.

"Not a lot of cover, we should keep moving" when we are surrounded by walls and barricades.

"We've got company" AFTER I've just killed them all.

"There's something here" when we've been having the crap shot out of us by a turret or 3 for the last few seconds.

"Wait something's out there" - really? Do you think maybe the guy who set us alight with a molotov?

and stupidest of all

"I trust you" - because he really shouldn't as I'd love to put a bullet through his head!

His whole script after Abernathy/promotion. Which is depressing because he had like so much potential.

Actually, I'd argue that the stupidest thing he says is:

As usual, I have another settlement that needs your help.

Heard this yesterday

"I have something a bit different for you"

I walk closer

I got so sick of that on my first character that every character afterward has left the Preston group in the Museum to rot. I don't need that power armor frame on top, theres one just NE of Sanctuary sitting there in the open waiting for me. One of the best things Bethesda did for the sanity of many! B)

This is why when consoles get mods, I'm getting the "kill everyone" mod and he's first up.

After farming up his affinity using weapon mods, I tried to get him to say his relationship improvement dialogue but he kept feeding me quests. I quickly fatmanned him onto his backside, then when he got up again he was full of praise for me.

One time a huge rad storm was going on in Sanctuary and during it, I saw Preston. He said:

"At least it's not raining."

Preston Garvey is not a very good character in my opinion.

He is too quiet and slow in his attitude. It feels like he is in a constant dream stade. As if he is on some kind of drugs that keeps him stoned.

He is annoying and boring by constantly asking to help new settlements. In my first playthrough I went along, but in every one after this I simply avoid him. I never visit the museum in Concord.

I really hate these repeating quests because they all come unendlessly in a row. And they are more or less all the same. You can spend the entire game just helping new settlements. I want to explore and feel free.

I've never taken him as a companion. I also didn't do any of the Minuteman quests until I was level 18 and by then I already had Spray and Pray and Overseer's Guardian and when he told me to get the Laser Musket I just looked at it and moved on. Then I took them to Sanctuary and when they asked me for help I told them NO and left. Haven't been back since.

If consoles ever get the kill everything mod, I wonder how many people will kill preston then reload just to kill him again in a different way.

Preston is bad, but nothing is worse than sneaking around a Super Mutant camp listening to all of the Mutants, including Strong, repeating the same three lines every 15 seconds.

Pity we can't mute them until the new dlc comes out hopefully they might change their dialogue at least a bit.

My biggest complaint was that he was barking these orders from the start of the game causing you to travel across half the darn map ignoring all the stuffs to explore just to reach the kill bad guys here and return quest.

Most of the merchants dialogue is annoying as well. Cricket make me laugh.

" part of the proceeds from your purchase go to buying new trees so we can blow them up in your name" or something similar.

Cricket is actually one of the best voiced characters in the game mannn. I see her in the wasteland and were like instant buddies cause ill follow her caravan group around for a bit listening to her lol.

That's a girl id get along well with, too bad I cant romance her ingame lol :D

My game bugged out where he said that line before starting any other line. Throughout the entire final main quest story..(I sided with the minutement.) he would say that line before starting any other dialogue related to the story. It was annoying but he wasn't actually giving me any quests so I actually felt pretty good about that.

Question - If you decide not to help Preston and bail on his group in Concord will they actually get overrun and killed or do they just remain there until you return?

They'll be stuck in a temporal phenomenon. Never ageing, never dying, eternally waiting for help that never comes ...
