[WIP] MW Style Daedric Bottle Openers

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:31 pm

Hey- just checking in! The TES:III Daedric Dagger is one of my favourite weapons ever, I was pretty excited to see someone had taken it upon themselves to bring it back. Just wondering how it's going, and if it'll be available anytime soon? Well, obviously I'm excited about the entire set, but mostly the dagger... and the longsword.

Looks great. I've always preferred the Morrowind Daedric weapons to their Oblivion counterparts (well, my favorite is the Daedric bearded axe from my FCOM setup, but that doesn't count).

Edit: er, I guess I didn't see the dates on the posts. Is this project still getting attention?

Originally I was only asked to make the models and someone else was going to texture. Somehow that didn't work out and to be honest I just set these aside. Other projects have since creeped in. My weapon mods usually get pretty modest downloads so unless the community literally starts screaming for them they'll likely be shelved.

EDIT: Seriously, please don't shelf this weapon set, the weapons look beautiful, all you need is a good skinner.

Any updates?

I'm having to work 2 jobs to survive but I managed to get one item textured (battleaxe). See 1st post for update. I think it turned out pretty well.

The battleaxe looks awesome. Its like lifting a layer of grime off the original MW axe and restoring all the lost details. :goodjob:

Thanks. I tried to recapture the 'feel'. Surprisingly few comments on Nexus though. Has interest really dissolved?

I'm interested. :hugs:

Perhaps if you added some revealing armor? Just kidding. Personally I think there needs to be more modded weapons. And not just swords. I like variety.

Thanks.

I think you're right. I should have used an H-cup model in a Sailor Moon skirt to display the axe instead of a bloke in MW style Chitin. What was I thinking?

The screenshots look pretty promising.

Will the spear be a one or two handed weapon?

Not sure but I think the shorter spear may be one-handed and the longspear two-handed so it can use SkyCaptain's Spears of Cyrodiil staff animation switching. I was reaaaaally hoping OBSE would have offered some dynamic animation switching by now as I've been reluctant to mess with spears until it did but alas... FOV limitations means you don't get to see more than the shaft of the spear in 1st person and although SoC works pretty well for the two handed spear thrust its less than I would desire. Spears and Crossbows in OB will always be 'best effort' unfortunately.

BTW: I'll probably switch the battleaxe to 2-handed as it was in MW.

Hmm, ok... which animations are you going to use for the spears?

Since I can't specify custom animations on a per item basis the only choices I have are:

1-handed blunt
1-handed blade
2-handed blunt
2-handed blade
SoC/OBSE switch to staff anim using hotkey

Not trying to ruin your spear idea but none of the animations actually fit the spear

Nothing I can do about that until the OBSE team comes thru with a method to switch anims dynamically.

I will take the chitin any day. It always was one of my favorites. ;) I'd also like to second one of the previous posters about the dagger, that thing is wicked!

Lookin' good :P

But isn't the dagger a bit big? It's almost the size of a shortsword.
