[RELZ] OB Style Quivers and Sheathing Bows for Morrowind

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:06 pm

Goal - to make the bows sheath similar to OB as much as the game mechanics and animations will allow and to add quivers for all of the armors.

Three choices for styles of play.

-- OB Style Quivers and Bows.esp adds a choice script to all of the Left Pauldrons. Putting it on the ground and then picking it up will activate the script. Choose Pauldron or Pauldron Quiver set.
If you want the bows all to your self and don't mind having message boxes this is the set for you.

-- OB_Style Auto Quivers And Bows.esp is completely automatic. Main script is on the stock left pauldron in the game. This means that anybody wearing a left pauldron in the game will have quivers regardless if they have a bow or not.

-- OB_Style Quivers And Bows 4$.esp has the pauldrons for sale(4$) in Caldera, Hodlismod: Armorer. They restock. Available no where else.

I would a appreciate a couresy e-mail about your release so i can keep up with what has been done.In OB Style Quivers and Bows.esp all left pauldrons have a script on them. When placed on the ground and then picked back up, a one time script will run that will give you the option of, stock pauldron or Pauldron/Quiver combo. If you choose the stock pauldron you will get a copy of the stock pauldron exact same stats, different CS ID. If you choose the pauldron/Quiver combo you will get a stock pauldron with the exact same stats and a quiver to match that pauldron.Bonemold pauldron = Bonemold Quiver, Netch Pauldron = Netch Quiver, Daedric Pauldron = Daedric QuiverThe arrows are made to match the pauldron. It was to script intensive and mesh intensive to make all of the arrows swap out for each one.Crossbows are not affected by this mod. They are pulled from the left hip and not the right shoulder, so they didn't look right using the same setup. At some future point this may be addressed but it's not guaranteed. This is set up as armor so you don't lose any armor rating. The quiver will not add or take away any armor rating as it is not defensive in nature. If you enchant a stock pauldron and then choose to use a pauldron/quiver set afterwards, you WILL LOSE YOUR ENCHANTMENT.If you enchant a stock pauldron, do so after setting it on the ground and choosing the stock pauldron option. If you enchant a Quiver/Pauldron set, it will not act like you think since the scripts are "swap scripts".If you have no bow equipped and enchant the Pauldron/Quiver set when you equip a bow, that pauldron set will NOT HAVE AN ENCHANTMENT.You could equip a bow and then enchant that set and then not lose you enchantment(when they swap), but if you change to a different bow, you WILL LOSE YOUR ENCHANTMENT. When using an enchanted pauldron (Snow Bear, Snow Wolf, Her Hand) every time you equip, draw and sheath your weapon, you will hear the sound that plays when you equip an enchanted item. Same one that plays when you use any magic item. It's part of the game mechanics and I see no way to stop it.Details - for those that are interestedIn the CS there is a different pauldron, set up for each pauldron/quiver with each bow. It is too mesh and script intensive to set that up at this time.I also have concerns about a fps hit with over 2000+ different meshes and over 500+ lenghty scripts to acomplish this.***************************************************************** 9. I did not make any of the mesh's or textures for this project. They are either stock or by Dongle or snakebitten.
I did do many changes to them though.
All but a few use stock textures. I would welcome anybody with the talent to be able to make those few rely on stock textures, so that texture replacers will work seamlessly. Otherwise a patch will have to be made for them. Said armors are Adamantium, Her Hand (Almalexia Indoril, both) Daedric, Royal Guard (Helseth), and Orcish.

I used stock Bethesda icons to make the quiver/pauldron icon. It is a combination of the pauldron and a arrow.

Any armor replacer that uses a esp or overwrites existing meshes or textures will need a patch made with a esp.
Please help me identify the most popular ones and I will make them as I can.

The arrows are made to match the pauldron. It was to script intensive and mesh intensive to make all of the arrows swap out for each one.

Crossbows are not affected by this. They are pulled from the left hip and not the right shoulder, so they didn't look right using the same setup.

This is set up as armor so you don't lose any armor rating. The quiver will not add or take away any armor rating as it is not defensive in nature.

If you enchant a stock pauldron and then choose to use a pauldron/quiver set afterwards, you WILL LOSE YOUR ENCHANTMENT.
If you enchant a stock pauldron, do so after setting it on the ground and choosing the stock pauldron option.
If you enchant a Quiver/Pauldron set, it will not act like you think since the scripts are "swap scripts".
If you have no bow equipped and enchant the Pauldron/Quiver set when you equip a bow, that pauldron set will NOT HAVE AN ENCHANTMENT.
You could equip a bow and then enchant that set and then not lose you enchantment(when they swap), but if you change to a different bow, you WILL LOSE YOUR ENCHANTMENT.

When using an enchanted pauldron (Snow Bear, Snow Wolf, Her Hand) every time you equip, draw and sheath your weapon, you will hear the sound that plays when you equip an enchanted item. Same one that plays when you use any magic item. It's part of the game mechanics and I see no way to stop it.
I see no way around this at this time. Open to suggestions.

Details - for those that are interested
The first set you get, the pauldron/Quiver set, with no bow equipped, has the main script on it.
In the CS there is a different pauldron, set up for each pauldron/quiver with each bow.
When you equip the bow on your character, it will swap out the pauldron/quiver set for the one with the right bow.
When you draw you bow it will swap it back to the pauldron/quiver set with no bow.
Sheathing your bow will swap it back.

If you do not have a bow equipped it will use the standard quiver/pauldron.

Nothing at all relies on the arrows being equipped in you inventory. It is too mesh and script intensive to set that up at this time.
I also have concerns about a fps hit with over 2000+ different meshes and over 500+ lengthy scripts to accomplish this.

One thing I have noticed is that although the quivers show up on the npc's in game. The bows don't sheath on them.

Constructive feedback appreciated and welcomed.

You've just made my marksman/Morag Tong character very happy.

Edit-I've spent a little more time playing this mod and I love it, though I have come across one small issue. I'm using a mod that adds the missing upper arm mesh to the Templar pauldrons, and this mod removes that mesh from the left Templar pauldron. Other then that this mod is great.

Which mod? I need to know these so I can address them. I thought about just adding the missing mesh but wasn't sure because I know there are several that do.

Two I know of:
Counciler's "Templar Pauldrons Fix" (Clean Templar Pauldron Fix.esp and Clean_Templar_Pauldron_Fix_v11.esp)
Cjad the Nord's "Templar Pauldron Fix" (Cjad's Templar Pauldron Fix.esp)

And the fix was added into v1.6.4 and later of the MPP

I'm working on another project that will also use the right clavicle for a new sheathing mod. So should I fix the right and left in this mod? Or just fix the left in this one and the right in the other one?

I am no modder, but i guess it is easier to control and fix if you make both left and right into one mod...right?

Great mod :goodjob: I'm looking forward for your next sheathing mod project.

I've found a little problem with Nordic Mail Pauldron:

Yes but there will be a lot of overwriting by different mods. My HELLUVA Awesome Armor Completion set adds the same pieces to the pauldrons too.
I knew it was in the MMP.
I've add the right one in for now for uniformity.

It's also up at http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8734 now.

Sorry about that Logitech. Apparently I loaded somethig into MWEdit and it dropped some BM references. Updating now.

Edit - Turns out to be Nordic mail, Stalhrim and all of the wolf and bear armors. I'll have it done in a few hours. Prior commitments won't let me finish all of the work ATM.

Tried this in-game and it works brilliantly - I'm just waiting for the latest fixes before I add it in permanently. I was just wondering: might it be possible to make a version that's compatible with Kahkahra's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6358?

PES is update to the 1.3 version. All Bloodmoon armor should be okay now. Lot of work to fix one little mistake. I missed checking off Bloodmoon in MWEdit and it dropped all of their stock body parts.

@ Helena - I'll look at making a patch for that. It will still require Kahkahra's mod though. Should have that done in a few hours.

EDIT - The OBQSB & Complete Armor Joints compatibility esp's are done and up at PES. Did a bit of testing and they seemed just fine. Please report any issues please.

Hey, thanks! I wasn't expecting it to be done so quickly. I only found one small problem with the compatability esp: you forgot to add the missing mesh parts to the stock Templar left pauldron, so unless you use the 'auto' esp, all the NPCs wearing Templar pauldrons will have those parts missing. Luckily it only takes a moment to fix, so I've done it myself in the CS.

Also, not really an issue with your mod as such, but I thought I'd mention it: the MPP v1.4 changes the Bonebiter Bow to use the bonemold longbow mesh for some reason. I use the MPP, so I've altered the quiver scripts to use the bonemold bow mesh if you have that bow equipped. It didn't take too long, but I guess it's up to you whether you think it's worth making yet another patch.

Okay I found the 2 esp's with the missing references to the templar pauldrons. Thanks for pointing it out.

I knew there was going to be a lot of patches and different armor issues to address. This is just the start of a very big project (hopefully, working out a few details). I intend to make all weapons sheathable with no missing body parts. They will all be attached to the right clavicle. At some point I may even address shields but haven't decided where to attach them yet.

If everything goes right I intend to add sheathing to all stock weapons and all weapons in HELLUVA Wicked Weapons (along with a update). After that HELLUVA Awesome Armor compatibility will be added too.

I'll look at the MMP tonight and see what I can do. It's not so much making the patch but making all of the patches :ahhh: but I knew that going into this.

I appreciate your patience as I correct any missed issues and patch production.

If anybody runs into any issues with the scripts, please let me know. They have been tested extensively. Fliggerty was kind enough to write the initial set of scripts. I did all of the duplication for each bow. It takes 18 separate scripts for each bow type. Nine are remove scripts. Eight are on the pauldron/quiver/bow set and handle swapping. The main script is on the Pauldron/quiver. It does most of the work.

I'm going to add some more pics tonight at PES. I'll update the downloads then.

Any other suggestions for patches?
One note on patches, I'm not planning on making patches for every set of armor out there. I will probably make a tutorial on how to add the scripts to your armor and how to make the pauldron quiver sets. It's not that hard, just time consuming to make so many.

As I said in my read me and the first post. I would love for someone to address the 5 Quiver textures that I had to make textures for that don't rely on stock textures. That would make it much more compatible with texture replacers and negate most all texture patches.

I know I haven't been around, but work has been progressing on this and the other sheathing mods.
I have also went back and rebuilt every quiver mesh again. This time I am using 2 attachment points for the bows and they are textured like the quiver and not the bow. I have also tried to optimize the nifs as much as possible.

http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/3974/quivershot01.jpg
http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1847/quivershot02.jpg
The clips blend in much better now.
I have most of the parts and pieces for this done now to complete the Helluva bows. Doing the Helluva Armor will take a bit more work. I'll have to texture quivers for each of the pauldrons and import the pauldrons into the quiver. Again, not hard but time consuming.
The goal is to have the "stock armors and bows" and "Helluva Armor and bows" to all work together. Optional esps, of course, for different tastes.

I'll have MMP patches when I do the update to 2.0 with all new meshes and Helluva Bows done.

Looking good, Sandman101  Quite an undertaking you've er... taken on here.

BTW, what do you mean by "MMP patches"?

Sorry Dragon32. That should have been UMP for the Unofficial Morrowind Patch.
I know it's a big undertaking but Morrowind deserves a complete system for handling sheathing. The bows and quivers require more meshes than others. I'm averaging about 3 bow sets a day. For stock morrowind that's about 86 nifs.
I've gotten all of the pauldrons and quivers done for the Helluva AA recolors. Working on the Armor completion ones now.
I haven't even touched the CS for setting everything up and the scripts, but that's just tedious work not complicated since the scripts are already written.

Return to III - Morrowind
