Subscription fee :(

Post » Tue Mar 18, 2014 12:41 pm

I hate this monthly subscription fee they are probably going to lose customers. I have already pre-ordered the game and I only found out today. I have heard the reason they do this is for updates (they say it's not going to be updates like a new sword, its going to be bigger) I hope they will stop this madness before we all have to pay this extra fee. :shakehead:  :verymad:

Costs-£8.99

$14.99 (same for AU)

Although if this game is as good as it looks I will probably just pay and then that will hopefully improve the game!!!!

Why would you pre-order the game before looking into this? Seems a bit reckless to me.

Anyway, I prefer subscription based games rather than f2p games. I tend to prefer the content and dislike excessive cash shops.

subscription fees aren't new by any means- and if trend anolysis shows you anything, it's that sub based games are going "out of style" in favor of cash shop models...

Would you rather the game be P2W and have PvP in Cyridil ruined because those with the biggest wallets buy the best equipment and can massacre everyone? No thanks had enough of that playing Perfect World.

The subscription model is fine as it is. If you don't like it // can't afford it go elsewhere.

Subscriptions are the best.

Keep the riff-raff out.

Swtor and DCUO say different both subs now f2p and they making profits more now than being subs.

Yes swtor has flaws but point stands, even lotro turnover went up after f2p.

I am all for subs. Keeps a lot of riff-raff out, and frees zone chat from the clutches of F2P chat spammers. Not saying those people don't exist in sub based games just that they are not as prevalent.

So you take it as a habit to buy things with out knowing what they include?

Hey I got this box want to buy it.. only 99'999 € and it's yours I even sent it to you.. really honestly.

I guess you also think that you won the South African lottery and all you need to do is give em your personal information..

14.99 US, don't have the money? get a job.

DCUO & SWTOR had to go Free because they were both colossal failures.

Do people just blindly throw away money to whatever hype these days?

I hate these "shut up and take my money" kids.

I have played enough F2P games, don't want to do that ever again... the P2P ones are always better quality, first off. Then, with F2P games you can tell who is putting money into the game and who isn't. Those who don't pretty much always end up looking like ragtag "would-be adventurer" farmers... while the ones who have a lot of money to sink end up looking UB4R! (That's UB 4 R, not 3 R, because it is one step above! and yes, sarcasm)...

Right there, you create an extra level of animosity between players that isn't needed! And it ruins the game, it ends up with the unofficial title of "P2W" because those that pay end up with everything, and those that don't pay have to work 5 times harder... The F2P model has done nothing but empower and enable young immature people into being old immature people. They won't work for anything, they want to be able to BUY their gear and get places just off of money... the P2P model says everyone is equal in their eyes, and everyone MUST earn their place in the game world. And yes, that cuts a lot of people out of the population, but honestly, those are people I don't want to hang around with anyways. So no, P2P please.

You love em - stay there. I don't need this F2P [censored] storm anymore, it has been talked and talked and talked and talked and over and ... you get the point.

I support the sub based game any other payment model, I would not be here today, sub might lose some people, but sub also gains some people, and I am on the gain side..:)

For sustained income either 1) you have a subscription model (which I like for many reasons), or 2) you charge for new content that people like.

If I really like an option 2 game I will spend too much money! I like the fact that for option 1 games everyone has the same stuff, a more level playing field.

There are other aspects of option 1 I like, but not to be mentioned here!

I actually rather like subscription fees. When you consider it's only 50 cents a day, it's really not too bad. Much cheaper than most hobbies I can think of, at the very least. I mean, a meal at Subway's about 10 bucks, give or take.

Beyond that, a subscription usually ensures that there's going to be a continued stream of content with a fair level of quality. The box sales recover the price of creating the game, and maybe some profit there, and then the subscription continues the pay so that the servers can be maintained and content can be created. A lot of games without subscriptions suffer from stagnation or long periods without any new content. Other times the content will be made, but it will lack quality because they're pushing out content to push out content.

This isn't a question of how much money the game will make and to be fair I don't really care how much cash is flowing into ZOS coffers.

What I do care about is when the game is slowly ruined and we have a two tier system. Those who cash shop and those who don't. Those who don't rarely get the same quality of game.
