Subscription Fee... Yes? Idk? No?

Phantasy Star Universe was $10/month on the Xbox 360 so there is precedent.

I'm really sorry to hear that you can't afford $15/month. I'm happy that you enjoy the franchise and lore so much and am pleased to let you know that Bethesda is commited to releasing more single player games involving the world of Tamriel in the future. I'll bet you're happy to hear this. Please stop by the official forums and chat with those of us who are playing this game. We'll be happy to let you know how it's going and how much fun it is. My guess is that I'll be paying about $0.18/hour for my gaming experience for the first few months at least. I don't know about you but I drop $40+ dollars for a movie night with my wife and double that if we take the kids. So I'm actually okay with the value I'll be getting out of the sub model.

Good luck!

P.S. And if ZOS gives a discount for purchasing more months at once (say $10/month for a 12 month sub?) I'll be all over it.

Thanks! Haha. Yea, people have a tendency to get a little irritable in their wording, but it's fine. I just brush it off. Honestly though... Reading everyone's comments and weighing the costs they make a good point. It is a reasonable price. I might actually purchase it. If I do I will need a list of GTs on the ONE and what alliance you guys are joining! It'd be nice to have a group of people to venture forth with!

I'm sure 15 a month isn't bad. It's actually pretty reasonable. As I said above, reading all the comments and everyone's points I'm probably going to get it. Which is the reason I posted this... to get more view points and have some of you play the advocate here.

As long as they give content, and the servers are stable enough. Yes I will continue playing the sub fee.

In theory subscription provides constant care for the game, meaning a lot less lag issues, a lot less server issues, constant updates and bug fixes, game balance, small content (before expansions).

But most critically it preserve the game's soul, hackers, botters, gold farmers, etc they won't dare to waste box price game+sub every time they get banned, so those are pretty much removed from equation with a sub, and that my friend would be reason enough for me.

I might be getting the game, I'm undecided, but I don't care about the subscription fee. For me, subscription MMOs are generally better games.

So I guess I vote yes.

I personally will be hoping that TESO never goes Free to Play, because it will essentially be the end of the game.

Another new person to the wonderful world of MMORPG. Sub fees for mmorpg are nothing new, some of us have been paying them for 14+ years and will continue paying them. If you don't like the idea of paying 15$ a month for the many hours of entertainment you would receive then mmorpg are just not for you and you should stick to single player and/or FPS games.

Sub fee is fine with me, I have yet to find a f2p game worth playing for free, and I have tried a lot of them, and by the time you were to puchase what you need for quality game play would cost you way more that 14.99 a month, and if ESO would have been f2p I would not be in these forums today..:)

They'll be launching TES 6 by then, so no loss, monetary wise for them.

Hahaha! Not cool. I was so upset about that... Our 2 defensive players made a bad move there. Should've swatted it! Oh well. Can't change it. It was a good game. Ready for the new season!

I have no problem paying the subscription fee for both the Gold and ESO. Budget it in if it that important, don't play it if it isn't that important. Prioritize your needs and wants.

back in the day all mmorpg's were 15$ sub, and after a while one of them got the idea in their heads why not just make the game free and charge people for content DDO. Now most games go to this method because their launch numbers failed and their content svcked they are just in it for the buck and not the game

The only thing remotly oke would be if they make 15 dollars premium and the rest freemium with no weird tricks like cash items. To let people try the game to get more polulation if its slipping.

But this wont happen for a long long long time.

The way i look at it:

Any game worth my free time is also worth a sub fee. Because a day of my free time is worth much more than 50 cents to me.

I voted for yes and no because I'd be happy to pay $15 a month but wish there will be pre-paid cards for say 12 months.

The game is already scheduled to go F2P 8 months after release once Zenimax has broken even and made some profit.
