Yes, I'm still getting ESO. I don't really see how $15 affect me monthly in a bad way. It's only 50 cents a day, technically.
Devs worked their ass off to deliver this game for years, they need to get paid. Plus maintaining the servers or I mean the megaservers isnt cheap. Im gonna pay that sub, I can spend more money in stuff that I can consume in minutes so why not?.
First of all, I hope ESO and ZOS do well. The game looks promising and fun.
But...I won't be playing because of the sub. I don't really mooch off much F2P games (TF2 being the only game nowadays that is F2P that I play now, Runescape in the past but went P2P for a little bit). I am too froogle but one thing I don't understand is where all the "F2P ruins games" talk is coming from. I started out MMOs with Runescape, then went on to P2P for more content but that faded away eventually. I heard about TF2 but saw it was P2P back then, now F2P. I really do not see a difference with P2P and F2P. GuildWars and GuildWars 2 is B2P, and I like it. Anet still pushes updates for GuildWars and there is new content every month in GuildWars 2, and that game has been out for 2 years.
I get what a game is like if it went F2P from the get go, but I honestly and truley do not see a difference with a game going from P2P to F2P. I understand P2P gets you better content, but P2P doesn't only get good content. Maybe I am just not used to MMOs, but that is what I think. I don't mind ZOS went P2P, just wish it was F2P or even B2P.
Just my opinion.
There's something tacky about F2P games to me, I doubt I'd play ESO if it were F2P, the way I see it subscription promises regular new content, maintenance, no P2W and helps ensure only the die-hard fans of ESO play this game.
