The world has officially gone mad as the Subway restorants have trademarked the worrd "Footlong" when it is used in combination with a sandwich. :brokencomputer:

Wow, I cant wait untill Gap trademarks "T-shirt" and I have to start buying "shirts with short sleaves that have a T-shaped form".

So, do you think a company should be able to trademark such common words?

So can I say "as long as a foot"? Does that count?

I want a sandwich which has a length equal to one foot please.

I would trademark the name "America". I think I would rake in the dollars of people renting the name from me.

Reading this makes me want a Subway teriyaki chicken sub. But it's closed. :(
We're lucky enough to have an all night drive-thru Subway a couple blocks over, but the one guy on duty late at night falls asleep a lot of times, or doesn't see you pull up. So we just honk until he gets on the mic.

I don't see a problem with Subway doing this. Corporations can do anything they want.

Actually I was reviewing the code comments on a building I was working on and we said 4" max on the spacing of the stairwell spindles. They made a comment that it had to be less than 4", even though 4" max is what everyones puts. So I put down that the max spacing could be 3 and 63/64ths

I'm fairly sure you can't trademark a word like that. Won't hold up in court.

Bravo good sir. Bravo.

Guys, I'm just going to point this out right here. The trademark is on the word footlong when involving sandwiches. This means either raithen is a sandwich or he's got some of the strangest fetishes known to man.

Ah, that's the answer!

In order to avoid trademark infringement, the country will convert to the metric system!

Wait a minute, Subway isn't part of a conspiracy to put America onto the metric system, is it???? :o

I'd like a vege thirtylong, extra olives.

EDIT: Could even call it a 300long (since 1cm=10mm).
