Success in converting Armor from Skyrim!

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 9:09 am

Though i dont know of anybody who has achieved success for this till now but considering that the mod bazaar of Skyrim is very hot with many mods at present i thought if i could convert armor from those mods it would be very helpful for me and the community as resources I tried to convert the Iorveth(Witcher 2) Armor Mod for Morrowind and after many thoughts on ideas, researches and time i was finally able to convert the Cuirass even though Bone Weight Copy script did not work for me.

Wait, I'm confused. Is that armor from Skyrim or The Witcher 2?

You're not allowed to move assets between games and upload them for public download. You can for your own private use, though. Just a heads up.

Tonal Architect: The armor is of The Witcher 2`s character Iorveth which has been ported to Skyrim as a mod.

Orphanix: The armor is out for Skyrim as a mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5644

Oh, okay I see. This is a Morrowind mod of a Skyrim mod. Interesting.

Cool. That must have been tedious to get working.

To be clear, people have ported mods between TES games before. What Bethesda does not allow is porting original game assets between games. So long as this is not a model from the Witcher games and is only an approximation of a piece from one of those games and so long as TheHolyWraith has permission from the original author of the model to re-release it as a Morrowind mod, there is absolutely nothing stopping him from releasing it if he decides he wants to.

Some companies let it. For example people who made Witcher are letting us use their stuff and porting it to other games. So in this specific case it's not illegal.

Chakra: so if there was a really cool house or weapon in Witcher, I'm allowed to grab it's data and port it to work in Morrowind?

There's a lot of talk about this over on the Skyrim side of things; http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1342484-about-the-witcher-and-skyrim/page__hl__witcher was the last I saw about it and seemed the most difinitive. My understanding is, CD Projekt Red is fine with it; Bethesda, on the other hand, is not.

But, in terms of making something from scratch for Morrowind that is inspired by/based off of another game, movie, etc... mostly, there hasn't ever been a problem with that that I am aware of. Westly's Nuada and Nuala race comes immediatly to mind. In this case, I believe the person who made the Oblivion mod made it from scratch, although I'd have to dig through my Oblivion mod archives and check to remember for sure. So, as said above, there shouldn't be an issue here at all.

I've always liked the way that armor looks, this is a welcome port. Now, if only someone was up for porting Geralt's face from the http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=39098&navtag=file/images.php?id=39098&tab=3... :whistling:

Can you eventually make a tutorial of how to downgrade a Skyrim's weapon/object (not amror because I kow it would be too long to explain) for Morrowind?
It would be really useful for other peoples/modders.

please

I think that's for from oblivion. I've tried downgrading a mod weapon from skyrim. but what i got was a nif with four sets of the weapon in it. I think that was related to how the skyrim engine works or something. I hope someone can figure it out soon. There is a wicked serrated glass scimitar from one mod that i want in my game.

Downgrading objesct is the same as weapons. as long as you don't need collision. For some reason collision drops when you use that method. And I am not quite sure how to reinstate it.

Bone Weight Copy script did not work for me.

Bone weight copy works fine on 'Skyrim' armours. Did you get some kind of error? Once you have the armour inside blender it is indifferent where the object came from.

I would love to but i myself havent tried it myself yet but atleast it wud be easier than armor conversionas for armor conversion indeed its a lot messy and i have been able to do only cuirass until now.

I am not able to use Bone Weight Copy script because the armor already has weights but for different skeleton and i dont know how to remove existing weights, if someone can tell me how to do that it would be really useful.
