Hi, apologies if this is already somewhere on the forum

I bought this game off Steam a week ago. I've really only just started; just got to Whiterun and am now in Bleak Falls Sanctum.

I am suddenly unable to sneak; pressing CTRL does nothing (have not changed the key bindings).

I reloaded to an earlier save where I could definitely sneak, but can't do it there now either.

I had my character go into 'third person' mode and realised she was constantly in the 'sneaking' crouch (despite not sneaking) so I got her to a smithy. She's now standing back up, but still can't go into sneak mode

What's going on?

Try finding a chair or a bench someplace and sitting in it, then get up and see if sneaking works again.

Also check the Controls section in the main menu to make sure sneak is still mapped to the CTRL key.

Oooh thanks, sitting down worked! I had read a previous post that suggested sitting down OR doing some smithing, and the smithing didn't work (so I assumed sitting down wouldn't either).

What a pain however; what if I'm in a place like a dungeon where I can't sit down?
