Suddenly getting crashes on save and when entering interiors

This is really annoying. Everything seemed to work alright at first, except for a few random CTD's. Now it won't let me save without getting a CTD. I also can't enter Megaton without a CTD.

I compiled my load using BOSS:

Simple, FWE and FOOK are not compatible. Pick one and adjust your mods around which ever you choose :)

Haha, really?! That would explain some things. I thought they were because the description of the Fallout Interoperability Program said:

What mods are covered under FOIP?

At the moment, we are focusing on covering the larger, more popular mods under FOIP. This currently includes:

- Energy Visuals Enhanced (EVE)
- Fallout Balance Overhaul (XFO)
- Fallout Overhaul Kit (FOOK)
- Fallout Wanderers Edition (FWE)
- Martigen's Mutant Mod (MMM)

- Weapon Mod Kits (WMK)

I guess those two mods can't run together then? It will be a hard pick... I suppose FWE will grant me the most fun, right? :unsure:

Either of them I am sure you will have a blast with :) Just read about the changes for each, and it should help you to decide which one to try first :) Good luck!

And yeah, we probably won't see them compatible together for a while cause there is a LOT of work to make that happen.

I deleted all the FOOK files, and things seem to work better now! My current load order:

Not every problem has been taken care of however. I've gotten myself into a big Brotherhood vs Mutants battle, and the game keeps freezing! It won't even go back to desktop, and most of the times i just have to hit the reset button on my pc, because alt tabbing doesn't work either. The music keeps playing hower. I've also experienced one or two random CTD's. But hey, at least i can save again! I thank you for the help you've given me Miss Sparkle! :)

Oh lord, there seems to be another problem. After uninstalling FOOK2 the game also seems to have deleted the explosion meshes. Everytime a missile explodes i get the big red !. Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling the whole game?

You could try making a clean save to see if the issue goes away. Find a cell that doesn't have any NPC's (people or creatures) in it and wait 9 days to be on the safe side (cause you are using FWE). Save your game and then exit the game. Load your game back up and click on that save. Test to see if it goes away.

Tested it, and it doesn't work. :( I even created a new character and still get the CTD's. Maybe i should just reinstall the game yet another time? Also, is RTS safe to use with my mods?

When you uninstall meshes or other resources, you leave a hole. To fill the hole, you need to reinstall the mods that were overridden by that one.

If you used fomods to install everything, it's a matter of deactivating then reactivating the omods in order again. Keep in mind that in the case of more complicated mods like FWE, this will mean some options get reset, and you'll have to make adjustments in game.

If you installed everything manually, it's a little more of a hassle but basically the same process. Reinstall the old mods in order, overwriting when prompted.

I reinstalled the whole game and left out some mods (FOOK, RTS, etc.) and the game seems a lot more stable now. I was able to play for about two hours yesterday with only one CTD! Hopefully this is a good sign. With most of my problems being taken care of, there is just one issue that remains. I suspect this is because of the sprint mod from FWE, but i'm not sure. I always use a button to run, so i walk by default. Whenever i attack while running my character automatically starts to walk again, and sometimes i have to wait 1 sec (if not longer) before i can run again. I can't run and attack at the same time, EXCEPT for when i toggle default running on (running without having to press a run button). This is extremely annoying and gets me killed all the time. The delay is even longer after sprinting. I've had this problem with every install so far, so i guess it's because one of my mods.

It's not a problem, Sprint is designed to work with running by default on. If you have that turned off then you should move sprint to a different key than your run key.

I thought of this, but it didn't help. My run key is "mouse button 4" or "H" and my sprint key is "Q". Maybe it isn't caused by the sprint mod after all, but I don't know... :(

Sprint temporarily blocks your controls(for the turning, that you cant shoot, etc), so after sprinting you will revert to your default speed, which in your case is walking.
If you change to default running instead of walking it will work just fine.

Yes, this i noticed, and i'm fine with how that works, but i'm not fine with the fact that i can't even manually run for a little while when i am, and after i am, attacking. Which means i can't run and attack at the same time without turning on default running. After i attack the manual running seems to be disabled for about 2 seconds. This is extremely annoying. :(

Go to the EVE page on Nexus and dl the Mesh fix.

Reinstall EVE that may fix your issue, eve has explosion meshes iirc
