I am sure many of you who have been around for a long time recall Emma's Children of Morrowind. I have been inspired by this mod to work on one for Fallout 3.

Oh ho ho, the adventures we had. From Knob Creek to Hodgenville we roamed, carefree and courageous. Irresponsible, and completely inseparable. It was, for a little boy, the perfect existence. So, let me ask you America. How many of your children can say the same? How many of this nation’s youth are truly happy, truly carefree? Well, we both know the answer, don’t we? None. America’s children live in a terrifying, meaningless existence. There is no hope, no happiness.


Custom child races as not to interfere with stock child races and stock child npcs.

Like the vanilla game children, these will not be able to be killed. I am currently in the process of creating the children before deciding where to place them although a few will be with specific people. Here is a teaser glimpse of two future wasteland denizens.

If there are other clothing, animation, pose, or item mods that you think would go well with this, feel free to suggest and I will seek permissions if I feel it will go with this mod. All included mods will be altered to affect only the custom child races in this mod so as to not interfere with the parent mods or the stock children and child races.

Suggestions that will be ignored:
Kill-able children
Any mod that sixualizes a child.

Novel idea. All I'll mention of my opinion is that bad things happen to not just advlts. But that is entirely up to the modder.

Names names names. I am bad at names.

In order to have the most variety possible, I need names for the children.

10 african american males
10 african american females
10 caucasian males
10 caucasian females
10 hispanic males
10 hispanic females
10 asian males
10 asian females

I probably will want to have some voice acting done as well later on by people who can do realistic sounding child voices or even, have your children do the voice acting. This will not be for a while yet though as I have to create all of the children and decide where to put them. It is too bad that you only have choices of child and advlt, no teens though that could be possible to fake using sizes. There also does not appear to be ghoul children though you think there would be some. Perhaps i can create those myself.

EDIT: It may be that i will have to create some advlts as well to go with some of these children.

EDIT 2: Also looks like I am going to have to create some clothing using default advlt male clothing meshes for the girls in order to have a better variety of clothing. The problem being that small girls should not suddenly go through puberty by putting on clothes.

Novel idea for sure. This would add a lot of immersion to the game. Also, keep in mind that not all of them would necessarily have to have parents. I'm sure there would be quite a few orphans with all the killing going on out there. As for naming them, if you just need some random names there are thousands of sites with 'baby' names. As well as other resources such as actual census records for common names in a given time period. Check http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/namesbystate.html Many first names can also work as last names.

Don't forget to add some Oasis children as well, with some strange wilderness-based names, like based on plants or trees. After all you'd think the advlts would be keeping 'busy' somehow.. Clothing would be easy too with what they wear up there.

Another thought would be raider children. Only at main raider camps of course, and you could just have them run and/or hide when a fight breaks out. This would be for those players who play as the raider faction mainly. Other factions like 'wastelanders' would probably have some kids at their camps as well.

Anyways, looking forward to this.

In going with this, do you think I should give all these unnamed people in the game names? Well except for the raiders of course. All these megaton settlers etc. One thing I will probably have to do after I finish this is start making compatibility patches.

I'd love to see some Raider kids running around. I was just thinking last night that Raiders should have kids with them. It would add a lot to the game. I mean, where do all the new Raiders I kill keep coming from anyway? I'm thinking it would look a lot like Dave's kids or the Andale kids; when you wipe out all the advlts they just run around in a big fuss; only for the Raider kids the advlts would respawn again.

I'll give the raider kids some thought. Hrm....that's gonna take a bit too since I want to use dirty skins. After all, their parents don't seem to bathe so why should they?

Ooh, raider children complicates things a bit as you're orphaning them. Interesting. A really cool addition would be if the raider children just ducked in place during combat and you could talk to them and escort/force them into Little Lamplight.

As for the title, fitting as it may be, I can see why it could lead to some confusion about what the mod is about.

Sounds like Emma's CoM mod inspired us both. :P

love the idea of what your doing. the game needs more children running around. as wastelanders and raiders... not a fan of the culture shirts and band shirts tho. just personal opinion tho.


as for all the people that are saying that the raider children should hide or run then you can save them to lamplight *eyeroll* no.... raider children can exist.. go watch more madmax and you'll understand what i mean. groups of raider kids in groups... so yes i definetly cant wait to deal with them in raider form...
so i hope the modder does in fact add raider children and doesnt do that whole save the pweshish children route.

I am sorry but I have already decided that I will not allow killable children. I am abiding by the wishes of Bethesda Softworks to not have killable children in their game.
