Suggest a Battlemage build to me?

Hiya. I'm looking for suggestions on what to level up in and where to place my perks in order to make a decent Battlemage build. Basically, I want to master heavy armor, 1-h/dual-wielding and destruction.

All other trees are optional. Suggestions? The Destruction spells look cool and work well with a 1-h spell + 1-h melee mix, but I hear that a lot of people are having trouble getting PURE Destruction to be useful without mastering other schools of magic first.

To summarize, I want to be a battlemage. Will master Destruction, 1-handed and Heavy Armor. Suggestions for other skills + perks that might be useful? Thanks.

bump

i'm having a hard time deciding whether to go pure mage or what
i've been playing mage so far but i've saved up a fair bit (6 perk points, to be exact)
the thing is before this i feel that destro svcks, mana drain, weak, etc.
so i wanted to be a dual wield battlemage

but then i got a robe and a mask that gives me like c. 150% faster regen and it's starting to feel nice, though still a weakling
and i hate the magic switching system which does not want to make me want to do multi school magic
also, stuff like wards are utter crap

so ... i'm thinking of going back to being a battlemage--is it worth it? is it a viable play mode? maybe carry both sets and with boss where kiting is required i just put on the robes?

I'd get all the Destruction perks, then spread the rest out among Conjuration, Alteration, Restoration and One-Handed. Maybe put a few perks into Enchanting as well. I wouldnt go with Heavy Armor, just use Alteration for defense. Get the 3 Mage Armor perks.

alteration
max it. get obvious 50% mana perks.
get 2 magic res perks.
get +duration perk.

restro.
adapt.
get stamina heal perk and healing increase perk. mana regen is entirely up to what you are going to enchant.

destruction and 1 hand. You want to max it.

heavy armor.
Your alteration tree gives you 80% Dr spell. Your base heavy armor should fill the rest 5%. No perks needed.

enchant.
Since you are going for heavy armors, you are gonna need this.

3 and 2 half trees. Will lack dps on masters.

I'm currently doing a magic-lite version of the battlemage, using only destruction and restoration spells and mixing that up with a 1 handed weapon and shield. And light armor.

I'd definitely put some perks in Restoration to increase the effectiveness of healing spells, and increase magicka regeneration.

So my Battlemage is a bit different I suppose...

I am running a Dunmer with the majority of my perks going to One Handed and Destruction (also Heavy Armor, because the last heavy armor perk is sweet). I still had to Smith quite a bit (as does any non mage character...) to upgrade my gear. I put like one point in Archery early on because I am a dork.

So far it has been very effective in all scenarios. I do need to work on my destruction a bit more though...

Oh and I did put a couple points in Restoration. I am not using any conjuration or illusion or alteration with this character.
