Suggest me a free game.

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:22 am

So, I recently installed a game called Super Mario Bros. X, or Super Mario Brothers 10. I'm currently in World Two and it's pretty darn great. A while back I downloaded Daggerfall and I like it, and so I'd like to get more games on my computer because I got a new computer a few months ago, and it's empty. I've installed some things, but I know it can hold way more games. So, any downloadable, free games you've played and liked that you can recommend to me? Thanks.

What kind of games do you like?

The easy answer is Dwarf Fortress.

You didn't happen to play Arena (The Elder Scrolls I), yet, did you? It's also a free download.

Well, the combat in Daggerfall was pretty difficult, so I thought Arena would be even worse.

I don't know about free but you can get tons of games for under $5.00 from places like Steam and Direct 2 Drive. D2D even has Medieval 2 Total War on sale right now for $3.75. Really good deal and a great game.

I'm sure someone with such an active brainwave pattern as you will be able to figure out whether or not he likes a game by themselves. God help you if you can't.

Well, ummm, that's the whole purpose of asking before I play. If people say it's worth downloading, then I look into it. If people say it svcks, I don't.

A really fun game that is worth checking out.

And http://www.spelunkyworld.com/, pretty much any game made by Derek Yu is worth downloading.

Ever heard of http://marathon.sourceforge.net/? One of Bungie's earlier works and where Halo got it inspiration. Decent story within the game and a handful of puzzle here and there, all in a DOOM's FPS style.

Play a roguelike. There are lots out there, like Nethack, Crawl, Stone Soup, Caves of Qud, and many many more. Yeah, they're free, but only the more popular ones will have tilesets. Rest will be ascii.

Might check it out, but if Bungie developed it, I might not do it.

Ohhh, Eternal Daughter looks amazing. Definitely going to download it. Spelunky looks amazing too, but does it have online co-op?
