Suggestion: Artillery coverage overlay for pipboy

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 2:12 am

We already have an overlay for supply routes, how about adding an overlay showing the coverage of all of your artillery on your pip-boy map in one of the patches. I know Bethesda stated they plan to add more than just bug fixes like they did with skyrim and mounted combat etc.

I don't know that this is a good place to put my suggestion. Does anyone know a better place to put in suggestions?

I think this is a good idea. I have artillery built at most of my settlements, but it would be cool to see what kind of actual coverage I have. I don't use the artillery often enough to draw any conclusions about range, but I'm assuming there are some dead zones where you have no coverage. I imagine the deeper parts of the Glowing Sea don't get covered.

This is not a Good Idea... it's a Great Idea. Because not only is it useful, it's a logical progression. If the people are sophisticated enough to lay down a barrage at the beck and call of a Forward Observer (you), then it follows they would be bright enough to know just where that barrage can land. And as capable as a Pip-Boy is for all the other things it does, it most certainly would be able to lay down a map plot of coverage areas. I'm even certain it would be capable enough to run a filter showing the area of effect for EACH of the individual artillery emplacements. Even further, it should be able to show, "If I place artillery here, what will be that emplacement's area of effect?"

Keep in mind- with the game's interpretation of what technology works and what is broken in the FO4 universe... you have to listen to a banjo music radio station to hear your fire-control guy call out your artillery strike. LOL.

Wait, do they announce artillery strikes on radio freedom? I don't listen to it because of all the damn quests.

Yes, if you only turn it on right after you throw the smoke grenade, after a moment you'll get the guy acknowledge your fire mission or tell you the target is out of range, and then tell you they're reloading after they fire. Then turn the dam thing off immediately if you don't want to get assigned another mission. Pretty much the same format as in the original tutorial mission after you build the first gun at the castle when they made you turn on freedom radio to use the gun.

Yup..exactly what I was thinking...be able to toggle it off/on...if you have a ton of settlements with artillery with an overlay of artillery range...yea I would want to be able to turn it on and off...unless they made it transparent enough to not really interfere with map viewing..eh..the option would still be better IMO..
