Suggestion to Beth/Obsidian

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 9:57 am

After your patch resolving the savegame issues, the only other issue that's been prevalent is Crash to Desktop (CTD).

in the 12 hours I've played, I've had about 6-8, so it averages to about 1-2 hours of play before a crash. Mayhaps a tool that captures the crash data and then reports it to you directly would help? Your program rarely gives information about the crash (unless you have a log file somewhere) so, I can't provide you any more troubleshooting assistance than to say "it crashed all of a sudden".

When it does crash, it does so at random places/actions, so I've yet to be able to pinpoint something that guarantees a crash. The exe just stops responding and requires CTRL + ALT + DEL to terminate the process before I can get back to my desktop.

Thanks, I went there, unfortunately on my system information is very sparse (it only says that falloutnv.exe in version 1.1.1.271 crashed in a certain address). I see no option to view more details (Win XP SP3 here). It doesn't say anywhere that any files are attached to the log.

I also found no appropriate log file in the Application Data system directory.

Right click My Computer, Manage, expand Event Viewer, click Application, and double click the crash with the red circle and white X. Click the button with 2 pieces of paper and paste it into notepad

Although it helps more if you just tell them how to recreate the crash or bug so they can patch it. I'm not sure how much these error reports actually help.

Yep, I got a suggestion for Beth/Obsidian as well:

Try dropping the politics, subpar quality assurance, and lack of suffient beta testing.

Why should I (Or anyone else) have to pay to beta test your game.

The bugs in Fallout New Vegas make Fallout 3 (When it was first released) look like a highly polished gem of great value.
