Suggestion: Dog finds things.

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 8:27 am

I don't know if there was already a suggestion thread, my bad if I missed it. (Mods may kindly movie this thread if needed.)

So basically what I was thinkin' was if the dog would randomly find things or bring you a (dead) small animal. Who hasn't had that cat or dog that brought you a dead snake or mouse. (My cat dropped a dead spider on me once *shivers*.)

Maybe animals like a radroach, small molerat, etc. Maybe items like, tin cans, scrap metal, unexploded mine . . . you know small things. I wouldn't go as far as to say stimpacks, but maybe you could teach your dog to find certain items. I just think that would be cool.

The general forum is the main place for suggestions, thanks for your suggestion, keep in mind Beth already confirmed featurewise, the game is done, so I guess this has to be saved for 5 or other possible sequels.

Well if the game is done could just add it in an update. (Culture shock for adept players though.)

A dev cant just shoehorn in any mechanic in a update, its not the universal solution one so easly think it is. Not saying its impossible, but it is very unlikely.

Yes I wonder if the programming for your dog to locate items is still in from F3

It would be great if the dog can do that.

I was hoping for a feature where you could teach the dog or Codsworth a few items (maybe four) and tell them to search the area for them. So instead of general find ammo, find stimpacks, etc, you could say find baseball or find teddy bear, and they would search the general area to find one for you.

The dog could do it in Fallout 3, if you asked him to. I remember that being particularly useful when trying to find the Firelance.

I'd prefer to keep it that way. I wouldn't want my dog bringing my things all the time, that sounds annoying.

Fallout 3 had this function, you could tell Dogmeat to serch for ammo or chem, downside was that he might disappear.

Oblivion CK had an function for having followers search for items. This was used in some companion mods. I used it to having follower help me harvest my farm, even recruited some beggars, downside was that if they could not reach an plant they hang up so I guess the same happened in Fallout.

It looks like you can tell the dog and probably others to pick up stuff like you can in Skyrim. In skyrim it was useful to get past weight restrictions.

Maybe you could teach the dog how to pickpocket or reverse pickpocket. You could be talking to an enemy like those Legion assassins and your dog sneaks behind them and drops an explosive in their skirt or at their feet.

Maybe it's because I'm always "Vilified" with the Legion from Nipton onward, but their assassins are never so courteous as to talk to me. :P

They sometimes do that "The Caesar has marked you for death" speech before attacking you.

If we do, I would call her Dovakitty and she would not be afraid of anything.

Unlikely. Asking Cat to .. fetch you something is akin to asking a Gamer to stop [censored]ing about new games coming up. Cats do what they want to do, Not what you want them to do.

Id often ask Dogmeat to go find me some Ammo and he would disappear. And then Id forget about him and wander somewhere else and then he suddenly turns back up.

I taught my cat to fetch, and he randomly drops spiders on me...

help...

The only thing my cat does without my consent is sleep, and run around on top of things.
