Hi everyone i'm not sure this topic is related here, if not i'm asking the admins please just move it to the right forum.

I came up with a suggestion, i don't think that i'm the only one who tough about this but i think it's a good idea for Bethesda

to take over the Gothic games and recreate them.

of course i believe there will be complications with the copyright and the creation itself but i believe if there will be enough fans

to support the idea it should be possible.

it might take the title for game of the year if its made right and i believe Bethesda is the best company for open world games

so i wouldn't want anyone else to do it.

If there ever is a 5th game (or a remake) I would like to see it developed by the original developer, Piranha Bytes.

Bethesda Game Studios are kinda busy enough as it is with Fallout and The Elder Scrolls already.

The good thing about different games in the same genre is diversity. I love both series, Tes and Gothic. There is no need for Gothic made by Bethesda. It would feel and play too much like a Tes. I wish there were more rpgs like these, made by other studios.

On the other hand Piranha Bytes has full rights on Gothic so it would be absurd to think they would just give away their baby who put them on the rpg history for good. Now if you said you'd like Zenimax to bring Piranha Bytes under their wing now thats another story, it would be nice to see true AAA games from PB again, because Risen 2 and 3 were very poor low budget games to say the least.

I would like this remake too but only if all the bugs in the game were fixed.

thanks for the warm welcome! about the game, me and my friends just disappointed about what Piranha Bytes did in the 3rd game and as for gothic Arcania it was better but still lack the humor and soul of the original Gohthic 1 & 2 games that's why i was hoping maybe someday Bethesda might take over and make a few nostalgic remakes.

with what i've seen so far Bethesda is only getting better in making this kind of games and if they decide to make a Gothic game i don't see why people won't be interested in playing it. as for the copyright i don't expect Piranha Bytes to hand them over but if there's enough people interested in it maybe it might get Bethesda attention to Buy the rights from them (a slim chance but anyway) i know Bethesda like to do what best for the fans so why shouldn't they try if the fans will be interested?

about the bugs, in Gothic 1 and 2 the bugs were funny, it actually felt like part of the game, for example the bug with the black troll when you hide behind his butt and hit him until he drops, but in Gothic 3 the bugs were just stupid like the followers who started waking backwards and than disappear and the bird that flew on the ground.. these bugs are not funny and it seems Piranha didn't do much to fix them.. they also changed the look of all the characters since Gothic 3 and it wasn't the same experience playing with them.

I agree that a Gothic remake by Beth would be awesome, and I do generally prefer Gothic over TES, but it's unlikely to happen since they already have a successful fantasy franchise under their belts. Why would they want to shoe horn another one in between Fallout and TES releases?

Piranha bytes should do it if they can get the ip from Nordic Games. They've probably learned a lot from working on the Risen Franchise, not sure if they're done with it yet though...

If my memory serves me right, PB said that Risen 3 was the last iteration of the series. I think this could be due to the fact that PB has regained the rights of Gothic, rights which they actually never lost completely to their former publisher JoWood.

I love Gothic 1 & 2. But I'd prefer Piranha Bytes to make a remake. After all it's their ip.

Piranha Bytes is still around, so why would you want Bethesda to make it? They'd just make it worse, imo.
