Suggestion for Skyrim Terrain

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 2:25 am

Considering that Skyrim is north and will be mountainous, and is smaller than Cyrodill, I immediately thought of a very similar place, from of course World of Warcraft. What place do you ask? Well the Storm Peaks.

Just look at it, it's not all that big but just from the map it looks well epic. If Skyrim was molded in a similar way, I would be indeed very pleased, what do you guys think?

I can't tell. It's just a map. O_o

Anyway, my idea of the environment/terrain would be

Snowy mountains and dense pine forests in the south
Valleys with vibrant vegetation scattered between mountainpous regions
Grasslands and various forests in the North
Rocky mountains and dry valleys to the west near High Rock and Hammerfell
Swamps and moors to the East near Morrowind

Well you can still tell the basic geography from the map, I personally love the cliffside shown at the top, really showing a sense of supreme height in the land/world.

Please keep WoW out of Skyrim. Bethesda has it's own geography on terrain already preset for Skyrim.

Eh... I don't know what exactly they should take from this map. The idea of cliffs? I think they probably thought of that. Mountains? Got'em. The general shape of the land is already decided. Besides, that map annoys me, because it's total lack of scale and several perspectives at once is confusing.

Dragonbones description is accurate.

the Province borders on 3 other land types in addition to it not strictly being just a snowball.

Hammerfell, HighRock, and morrowind will all lend their respective land types to it not to mention the vallys and omg weather patterns and thus geographical land types the mountain ranges cause.

Skyrim isn't WoW, it does indeed have a bit more variety than a single zone of Wow.
