suggestion : skill book system change

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 1:55 pm

the basic ideea is if u want to play on very hard , and prioritize u're skills building u end up having low MAIN skill

see as perks come by level restriction u need to take them and also have the necessary skills to aquire them

now this is problematic if skill books are in an area that it's unreachable unless u complete 50 % of the game

this leaves me into picking a perk i don't need because i don't have the required skill points to get the one i want

i suggest : making books add point into a skill of u're choosing then u can raise whatever skill u need to have it ready for the perk u want

i suggest:Noting of importance and nobody will probably understand what I'm saying, but basically a skill book that adds a point of your choosing into a perk you want? What is my Idea? I DONT EVEN KNOW!
So for now until you clarify, I disagree.

I think I can translate. Though it hurt my head to read in the first place.

Sentance #1 - If you want to play on Very Hard and plan out your skills, you end up with a low main skill.
Sentance #2 - Perks are level restricted and skill restricted
Sentance #3 - This is a problem when skill books are in a place that you can only reach in late-game.
Sentance #4 - Because I don't have the needed skill points, I have to take a perk I don't want.
Sentance #5 - I suggest making skill books add points to any skill you want, to make it easier to take perks.

Now that I've translated, I'm going to say...no. Just...no. The idea is bad, and based upon a premise that lacks any real basis in truth. The only things in the post that are factual are that there are level and skill restricted perks, and that some skill books aren't easy to get to.

u're
u're
What I don't understand is if you have already gone through the trouble to put an apostrophe between u and re, why not just spell out the entire word? You're. See? Easy.

Anyway, suggestions are a bit late as it has been over a year since release. Also patches are out of question since the team has moved on to other projects (though mods are always an option if you're on PC). Finally, this idea (and I'm going off of Silent93's translation here) isn't ...great. The only time you should ever be allowed to put a skill point into whatever skill you want is during the level up. Otherwise, find the appropriate Skill Book in game via http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_skill_bookshe wiki. A skill book that allows free placement of points into skills is kind of OP, OP.

Do you speak it!?

I had the same thought.... ha ha.

Anyway, no. Don't take perks you don't need/want, end story. I have little trouble building my characters up. Hell if I do a thrid play through, I should be able to take more perks and not use "intense training" so much.

Anyway, back to topic the most you can increase your skill level in the vanilla game is by 8, are you really that hard up for skill points early in the game?

Right, and you're pretty late when it comes to suggestion threads. Like I said, unless you have a PC to where you can mod, then it's out of question. If I wanted to rank up, I would just go to every possible thread and input a short simple opinion or a "this" post.

As for the second part, so what? The goal of the game isn't to get your character up to 100% effectiveness. With DLC's is still possible to max out or come close to maxing out. I'll be realistic: you want to max out a skill? Buy a DLC and go nuts, because this idea you have isn't happening. Sorry.
