As I see it, there are two types of roleplayers. There are those who enjoy creatinga powerful warrior, or mage, or assassin, with high stats and the most powerful weapons and armour; the power gamers. They really just care about levels and stats. I've nothing against that. I enjoy it every once in a while. And then there are the roleplayers who would like an
actual roleplaying experience. They want to feel like they live in this world, like they
are their character. They want a deep, immersive experience. You don't need to look very far to see that there is an audience for this. Countless mods - many of which I've downloaded and use myself - cater to this audience, attempting to make Oblivion or Morrowind an all round better roleplaying experience. There are mods that simulate hunger, thirst, more realistic fatigue, health and combat, mods that make you require sleep, even mods where you need to bathe. And, right now, I have to have countless mods active to play something close to the experience I want.
This is just a suggestion, of course, and is open to criticism. I'm not saying, by any means, this should replace the gameplay, but should just be an additional mode or difficulty for those that want a more immersive roleplaying experience. Just look around on the internet a little, you'll see there's a big audience for this. Why else would people spend their time creating mods that helped create a better roleplaying experience? There are plenty who would enjoy this, myself included.
But, I know little about game creation, so if anybody could point out why this might not be possible for Bethesda to do, please point it out.
Thanks for reading.
