Suggestions to an awesome start and long enjoyable FO3 exper

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 11:31 pm

If you can come up a few suggestions (at least three) for your fellow vault dwellers to have a great experience in their start up or during gameplay of Fallout 4. Based on your passed experience and regardless of your good or evil character....

Here are my three . . . .based on passed FO3 and FNV experience...and I am not a PC owner .

1) On your First run, be good, gain Karma.
2) Save alot, Google alot...
3) Side quests and unmarked quests are priority ONE , Exploration priority TWO and yeah there is that main quest when you are ready :-)

Don't have to agree with the above, just suggest :-)

Hard to give good advice before having played the game even a little.

1) Have Fun

2) Exploration is Priority 1, Side Quests and Unmarked Quests are Priority 2, and Main Quests are only done when you want to do them.

3) Find a Spoiler-free guide that shows the location of all Bobbleheads, magazines, and other unique items UNLESS you want to find them yourself.

All I can say is, save a lot. Keep a rotation of saves for each character, and be prepared to reload if something bugs out.

- Save in multiple slots.

- Don't consider it a Fallout game if you're a fan of the originals.

- Always remain stoic in regards to story, writing and characters. The pen might be mightier than the sword, but neither are mighty in the hands of a fool.

Oh yeah, another thing: It's worth it not to fast travel. The random encounters and things you find on the way really add a lot to the experience.

Have fun. :)

It's harder for some players to do this than others, but it's worth the effort.

Lol, for real. I've always said, you've got to want to like something in the first place if you really expect it to be worth it.

For me it would be:

- Take your time (be meticulous with searching areas)

- Be as immersed as possible! (Don't play the game without sound or with a bunch going on in the household)

- Save all the time

- Explore and have fun!

I think most important is to not be the type of elitist [censored] who doesn't consider fallout 4 a fallout game because he is "a fan of the originals"

Oh lawd. The game hasn't even come out yet and we're already digging in to the trenches. The next few months are going to be a hoot on here.

On topic: Unless Fallout 4 is completely and utterly stable the biggest tip is save often and, most importantly, use separate saves. My desire to keep my save games tidy often leads me to failing to do the latter, and then boom. Save game corruption or some sort of major bug. Its been how many years and I still haven't learned my lesson.

What feels "tidy" for my save menu is to just keep making new saves until the initial chargen save falls off the screen, and then save over the older save continuously. For Skyrim that means seven hard saves (plus the three autosaves and one quicksave, which you can bet I use liberally).

Give everything a fair shake. Beth gets it from both sides: try something new? "This isn't fallout! / dumbing down!". Keep with what works? "some old same old from lazy Beth".

Keep an open mind and see if its fun, regardless of what you're used to or expect.

-Save often
-If you get over encumbered, find an easily identifiable place, close to a map marker for later travel, and make a stash.
-If you find yourself getting lost in buildings/metros/vaults, or just want to get on with it, just take every right turn at every fork.

I would most likely not be a fan of Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4 if I wasn't a fan of Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. It is the story, setting, and style that makes the game Fallout not isometric views and turn-based. Original Fallout fans aren't as simple as that.

This so much! I always save on a five slot rotation, so I can go back a decent amount of time if something got messed up. You never know if a quest can bug out or not, especially at game release.

1. Explore: sift through every container and poke your nose in every corner of the world. The game makers went through a lot of trouble designing an entire world.. might as well check it out.

2. Take time to goof off and experiment with options.

3. Don't forget to eat or take baths. .. (in real life, not in the game.)

Yeah, the rotating save system is definitely the best. I like to make a permanent save at major points within the game just in case.. but other than that, you don't need to make a million saves. Just keep rotating them out. It gives you a good 3 to 4 hour buffer (depending on how often you save and how many saves you rotate.) so if you make a big mistake you can easily take a step back.

My top tip would be to not skip dialogue, there are some amazing stories hidden all over the wasteland!

Buy the game guide google and wiki's will be painfully empty the first month or so. So if you get stuck on something for any particular reason you have something to fall back on and also researching about tips weapons and enemies in game guides is fantastic when your on the crapper....or john

Like it was stated earlier.

Just go out and have fun experiencing the game for the first time.

I suggest not to look at forums, wikis or anything on your first playthrough unless you get stuck and even then try to limit the exposure to spoilers.

I do like that we do not have too much information of the game at this time. A lot of other games you almost already know the whole game well before it is out.
