Suggestions for music for Better music system

Post » Mon Oct 25, 2010 1:34 pm

What we need is one massive soundtrack folder made expecifically for BMS, kinda like what one member made with his "soundtrack for BMS" file over at the Nexus (even if his music taste was not too much to my liking). Anyway, having such a thing would be awesome to save the trouble and irritation of trying to find good sources to get music from.

I recently came across a disc with the soundtrack to Assassin's Creed, I really wish he'd make a plugin for Elsweyr now. :(

It actually got updated today I think. Side777 seems to be much more active on the TESnexus forums than on these, so I'll link that forum section in my first post.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but i think we need a thread to discuss music playlists, especially for mods like BMS. Anyways, i would like to recommend that people try some of the Avatar (Movie) and some of the Dragon Age Origins tracks.

I've been working on a compilation of tracks to fill every folder BMS adds, and as soon as I finish I'll post my list for others to get ideas from. Thanks for the Dragon Age idea, I'll look into that. :)

to be honest, I'm still in the process of experimenting with my 150 or so mp3s in different locations, trying to find those "just right" tracks. I could try and list my various sources for you, if you want? Like, off the top of my head, I use several slightly edited versions of Brand X Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUp_Gjzd9n4&feature=related and Keiko Matsui http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTRiXtP7lkA&feature=related

I'm also trying to use whatever I can from Tashin (especially), Adam Frechette, and Matti Paalanen, among others, from TESnexus. Also, several of the tracks I'm testing are from Teron's earlier posts.

Unfortunately I can't get on my main computer right now, roommate needs it, but I'll be happy to give all the information I've collected in a few hours or so. I'll post anything else I remember as an edit til then.

Thanks :)

I know there's already a compilation at http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27349, if you want to give that a look. But from my understanding, it's still incomplete. I'm not trying to make a huge downloadable file with only free music, but rather a long list of Tashin and other tesnexus artists along with links to the not-free artists to create the best, barrier-free BMS music list I can make. But of course, music is different to everyone, so my list should be considered simply a base to start from yourself. I'll try to finish my list early march. (It's ALOT of music to go through.)

Edit: I'll also look over all those royalty rules. If I edit a track enough, could I then allow it to be downloaded for free???
Another Edit: Nope, can't do it. Not legally, anyway, so I'll just stick with the "giving links" plan.

Dragon Age has some pretty good tracks, very epic-y. :obliviongate:

Something I'll try to do with my list is try to keep the 'obviously-from-so-and-so-movie/game/anime' songs to a minimum.

Just about anything scored by Jeremy Soule will fit in Oblivin. Almost any track from guildwars. age of conan has some good tracks as well.

yup, looking into Company of Heroes, Guild Wars, Harry Potter, Azurik, Morrowind... anything by Jeremy Soule is a good idea. Actually, I'm listening to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b10wcZtnUHQ from Azurik right now. Sounds great, but the hard part is figuring out where it fits...

BMS is my favorite mod ever made of all time, because it allows you to really custom tailor the atmosphere to your liking.

Currently, I'm using a huge single music OMOD I've put together just for BMS. Most of it is copywritten, or I'd upload it, but I found a majority of the stuff from http://www.radiorivendell.com/, a fantasy/film/video game music station. Jeremy Soule, Howard Shore, Iron Zur, the "Chrono Symphonic" suites, and a number of independent (and free) artists. It's a great source for new fantasy themed music.

I also sprinkle a bunch of http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12909 throughout each folder. This makes for some really good immersive moments in the game, especially when fading new musics in and out from silence.

Didn't have as much time to work on this tonight as I thought, but here are at least a few good songs to listen to. These were all composed by Jeremy Soule.

Ok, i just made a compilation of music for BMS, i'll upload it as soon as i get a chance, probably tomorrow. This is a very basic compilation for people who just want to go straight into the game with BMS and see how it works, it will not have the best songs to suit everyones tastes, i wasn't able to find good songs for riding or underwater and personally i dont need them, but you are always free to add or change something. Another problem i have is region based music, while i found some good exploration music, it's basically the same play-list for each region. I'd really like it if someone could get some good region-specific tracks. Anyways just a small announcement.

It does? Haha, I've been using them since the mod came out, I guess I didn't RTFM.

At any rate, it still punctuates the music/silence rather well. I'll have to see what it is like without the silenced tracks.

awesome, i'll definitely download that. also, for now i think i'll focus on just the underwater, riding, and region specific tracks, and see what i can come up with.

Another copywritten suggestion, but the Battlestar Galactica and Caprica soundtracks by Bear McCreary are amazing for Oblivion - I'm using a majority of the more upbeat themes for battle music.

nice selection :D

I would use it with Better Music System if EMC would work with my Windows 7

Why is this that it doesn't work on Win7?

I have been trying to get it to work as well, but I had a whole lot of codec issues and WMP12 was corrupted so haven't gotten around to trying it again.

Didn't have as much time to work on this tonight as I thought, but here are at least a few good songs to listen to. These were all composed by Jeremy Soule.

All of those songs are awesome. Any of the songs from Icewind Dale seem to fit well. This sounds like a great idea.

Are you going to be releasing a pack specifically for BSM HerGuardianAngel?

Some Clint Mansell music might fit, some is very good. I always liked the LOTR movie music, not sure how well that would fit though. Also, the Lineage 2 soundtrack is amazing I can send you a PM about it. Just some ideas.

That Radio Rivendell station is awesome man, most of it is really good and a lot of it could be used well in Oblivion as well.
