Suggestions for opera music

Post » Tue Apr 22, 2014 1:13 am

Not really sure what to call them. Any suggestions for some nice opera music? (preferably latin, but any language would do). Something like a church mass. Examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYeDsa4Tw0c (minus the pop-techo-electric part in the middle)

Pieces like those. I've found snippets of them in games, but I don't really have leads on where to amass them. Also, preferably more solemn pieces rather than springy ones :D Thanks!

If you're looking for epic choir music, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD3VsesSBsw is one of the more wellknown pieces.

When it comes to games I'm rather fond of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wwcS6LP6fM and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSbTviFhHI4.

Are you seeking Game Music that uses chorales (voices) in nature, or actual operatic chorale pieces?

If you are looking for gorgeously sad music/operatic singing (Soprano Dawn Upshaw) try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVITZUQ_uIU, (Sorrowful Songs). The very slow and quiet build-up in the first movment, then going on to some soaring vocals.

(If you ever saw the movie Fearless, his first movement was used to amazing effect in that movie as well.)

You know, Mirglof, "the fat lady sings" is a stereo-type. And some male opera singers can get pretty hefty as well. *shrug*
