I am using the PS3 version of Skyrim and am playing it since the release date. It is a lot of fun and a great game. Well, every great game has some flaws. I have collected those, that irritate me the most. Hopefully adding these points to the next patch will add more joy for many users. So here is my list.
#####################################################################################################################
Launching the game
- When launching the game a message pop up telling me... something unimportant. I have to press a button to proceed. This should not appear after the first time.
- There should be a way to make the game load the last saved game automatically on startup.
- I just want the game go load everything right into the world when launching, so that I don't have to wait and press buttons during the launching and loading time.
Loading Screens
- There is a repeating translation error in the German client. A Deadric Prince is not a "D?drischer Prinz", but a "Dr?drischer Fürst" in that context.
HUD
- Display deseases as icons (or at least one icon to denote active negative effects)
- Display a mini map (It svcks having to constantly switch between map and 3D view to make sure going in the right direction.)
- Display the skill bar when sneaking/creeping. Or at least some indicator, that tells me, that snaking is currently leveling.
- Display the currently attacked/attacking enemy's level. Some spells only affect creatures up to a certain level.
Map
- Provide an alphabetically sorted list of (discovered, filter?) places to fast-travel to. It's hard to find them on the map.
- Provide a way to remove the custom marker. This bastard tends to stay there, even if I answered "remove" to the random event "Do you want to move or remove the marker?".
- When fast-traveling to e.g. Whiterun Hold I am placed before the doors and have to accept the long loading time when actually entering the building.
At least after I once entered the building I should be placed INTO it when fast-traveling there.
Gameplay/General
- When switching weapons/magic through favorites it takes quite a while (maybe 1 or 2 seconds) till the weapon is actually switched.
This makes in really hard to use this feature in a fight.
- There is a bug in the first quest of bards academy. The pipe and drum remain in your inventory after you completed the quest. A patch should solve that.
- Quest items should never have a weight.
- Voices are too quiet when turning around, so that the NPC is in your back and too loud when a wall or floor is between you and the other person.
- Put some speciall marked boxes (at least one, maybe five) in each city, where you can put your items into and find them at a later time.
- When I stole something or unlocked a door and a guard saw it and asks me to pay 5 gold or so, I should have to possibility to just pay without going to jail.
Sometimes I steal some items while being hidden and in the moment of stealing the next item I am discovered, which leads to me being jailed.
On the PS3 this means a minute of unnecessary loading time.
If I only get discovered once in a while when stealing something, I shouldn't need to get jailed or fight (which is not an option).
- Buying skill levels should become more expensive _linearly_, but not with a big step at lvl 50.
- When dropping a bunch of items and exiting the inventory I should be asked, whether to group them in one package.
- Bug: Equal items are not always grouped. Example: I already have some dwarf armors in my inventory and manufactor a new one. It will not get grouped.
- When more expensive items are manufactored, my smithing level should be increased by a higher amount then for an iron dagger or something.
- When carrying away items, that I could steal, I someone sees it, this should also mean stealing.
- When I read a treasure map (Schatzkarte), I need a button to jump to one of the marked places.
At a later time I don't have a chance to find the places marked on the main map.
- The order of the main menu should be switched. There are three main entries: Quest log, Statistics, Load/Save/etc.
I very frequently use the Quest log and Load/Save. But I very rarely use Statistics. I think, Load/Save and Statistics should be switched.
- A fried told me, that on the PC it is possible to quickly heal using a healing spell. On the PS3 I have to equip the healing spell (which takes time),
trigger the spell (which takes time) and equip my weapon again (I use double handed swords).
All this takes so much time, that I take more damage during the process than I can possibly heal.
Hence I cannot use Quick-healing spell except after I killed the last enemy.
This makes the spell a little useless on the PS3. And this seems to be better on the PC.
- After I killed the last enemy around, My health and mana bars should almost instantly be restored back to 100%. I could also stand still and wait. But this should be unecessary.
Inventory
- The inventory should get split at a higher level.
a) My items (equipped and those frequently used)
B) Items just collected to get sold
c) Quest items (usually uninteresting for all other situations)
- Sometimes it's hard to find the items to be sold among thouse to be kept. And sometimes I accidentally sell an item, that I wanted to keep.
- Maybe it is a good idea to provide something like 5 bags, which I can generically use to group my items with the possibility to view "all".
Money/Trading
- Merchants I usually trade with should become richer, which is kinda realistic.
- All merchants should have a bit more money. The limit is just too hard.
- One merchant in the capital city should have something like 5000 gold, so that I can sell very expensive items.
- When I am about to sell a currently equiped item, a configuation message should pop up. In most cases this is an accident.
- The money system is totally imbalanced.
As a quite good smith, say level 50, I cannot produce more expensive items than I can as a [censored] enchanter.
An iron dagger encharnted with a good sole stone is easily more expensive, even if I am the worst encharnter under the sun.
And producing a potion as a beginner brewer can easily prouce very expensive items.
All this is imbalanced to smithing.
- After a complete trading session money transfer (in and out) should be displayed as well as level gain.
My house (can only speak of Briesenheim)
- Place more boxes, closets, vitrines and weapon holders into my house.
- Place arcane encharnter into my house.
Loading times
- Houses should be preloaded with the whole city. If this is too much, then at least my house and the merchants.
I shouldn't have to load again and again just to visit all merchants and my house.
On the PS3 this means extreme loading times.
- A dungeon should always get loaded as a whole. An example is the Hall of the dead in Whiterun, which is really small.
But I still have to load twice to visit the whole dungeon (the hall and the crypt).
Maybe it is an option to load the crypt (or other parts) in the background after entering the first part.
- A quick-save option is urgently needed. I have to walk through the whole menu process to just "quick-save".
Just reaching the save dialog takes time on the PS3. I guess the thumbnails of the previous save-games have to get loaded.
My suggestion: Start->Triangle to quick-save
- When I have died there should be a message "Do you want to load the last saved game? Press X".
Currently I have to wait a few seconds before the game loads the last save-game. In difficult situations, that I have to repease quite some times this can svck a lot.
- When I am still alive, but want to (quick-)load the last saved game, there shouldn't be two loading times. One is obviously sufficient, because this happens when I have died.
