Suicidal NPC's

Post » Sat Sep 03, 2011 12:55 am

So a friend of mine got to go to PAX and stood the 3 hours in line to play skyrim for a staggering ten minutes, in that amount of time he told me a story i feel like warrants posting,
he was standing on the edge of a cliff he estimated to be about 100 feet high he was taking in the view when he heard foot steps behind him,
he turns around to find an imperial messanger charging in his direction he does nothing but waits to see what happens, the imperial messanger charges past him and jumps off the cliff, too his death,
i really hope this is a part of the game, NPC suicides and just the sheer randomness of it all

I remember a guy named Mister Lopez, in a game that won't be mentioned who stood atop a very high height every day, regretting how he couldn't save his wife and kids from a raider attack. I told him he was pathetic and a waste of life and said he's too coward to jump. He did, and that made my day. I laughed so hard for a good hour.

I would pay to see suicidal people in Skyrim. I hope we can help them out, or send them to their doom :obliviongate:

Ehhhh.... I would hope they -fix- that. If it's a non-important character that will do that -extremely rarely- for an lol, alright. But if it's important characters than let's hope it's gone.

That would seriously break immersion for me.

Especially given that it was a messenger. I'm assuming he was supposed to be delivering something to you, not leaping to his death. Unless, while in the midst of delivering letters, he found a letter from his wife that was addressed to one of his buddies, and so he read it and saw they were having an affair.

That is just fantastic.

Reminds of the time I discovered that occasionally an NPC in Saints Row would spawn behind a car repair shop (Don't remember exact location) and jump off the cliff to their death. I used to always stop by there to see it.

So... What would you do if the messenger was supposed to give something to start a quest that gave you the best weapon/armour in the game?

Pray that the new NPC chosen by radiant story to take his place as the quest giver has a more positive outlook on life.

That's why you jump down after him to loot his body.

Well, with the given structure of the game now, and seeing as you can mess with economy. Maybe he just realized the stock market had crashed.
