Suicidal Super Mutants...?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:29 pm

Anyone else feel like this is sorta dumb? As you can tell from a note SM's drop they're existing with the sole purpose to loot, kill and raise hell. If I'm basically a massively sterioded raider why would I kill myself trying to fight with the people I'm trying to loot? Not only would it destroy all of their stuff it's not even remotely near a cause anyone would die for. SM's aren't a religious fanatic group that just want to spill the enemies blood no matter what the cause, they're basically jacked up raiders whos main drive is gaining loot.

Anyways, the addition of these suicidal mutants kind of bugs me and is especially annoying at lower levels when you cant kill them in 2-3 hits so you just get insta killed whenever you encounter one.

I hate them and just run like heck not stopping to wonder about their personal motivation.

You can't target peoples weapons anymore, otherwise this would be good advice.

No, but targeting the arm itself still makes you hit the nuke and trigger it.

Yeah, I agree, those suicidal SMs are hard to rationalize. The only thing you can do at low levels is run away as fast as you can & hope you don't get blown to bits.

The supermutants consider themselves superior to humans and are hellbent on eradicating humans by any way possible. Either with a board or bomb, they don't care.

That's simply not true. Sure some consider supermutants superior to humans, but their priority is loot as stated on the note they drop. In boston they have no master, they have no leader, so although they have no qualms with killing humans there's no conceivable reason for them to suicide bomb them.

I'm not so concerned about super mutant suicide bombers, they're intelligent enough to be manipulated to thinking it's a good idea. My big question is which wasteland a-hole is strapping mines to mole rats ?! What's his motivation?

They are a pain!, one way to cause my power armor plenty of damage, i like them though, it adds another type of enemy to watch out for.

I always assumed that they were driven mad by Radiation.

That this was simply another example of Super Mutant Evolution.

Specifically an example of what happens when it goes really, really, wrong.

I've never heard them speak or, indeed, DO anything other than run at you with the Bomb.

I tend to believe that they are not really sentient, per-se, but rather just trained by the other Mutants to run where pointed at, hopefully without dropping the Bomb on the way.

A rather brutal, extreme, and efficient, example of "culling the herd".

Or, they've commited heinous atrocities against Super Mutant-kind and have been sentenced to die in any case, but they are being allowed to die with honour on the battlefield.

I'd just assumed they were really dumb and that was by super mutant standards, so stupid that they couldn't remember or learn how to use a gun or even how to use a board effectively so they have been taught to run up to people with the bomb taped to them with duct tape (they are trained once you don't need the duct tape).....rather like how in WW2 Russia trained anti tank dog teams, the dogs didn't really understand the whole blowing up bit.

In fact, you're not right.

Some muties even say "You humans created us! Now you'll pay!"

They just want to kill all human beeings. No looting or anything, just bloddy revenge for the human faults of playing god and as they are sterile, they will take some humans to vault 87 for FEV-infection.

Some muties are friendly (like Fawkes in Fallout 3, or Strong in Fallout 4), but thats the minority.

But none of them is like a "Raider". They want to kill, survive or live in peace.

Especially when they go boom and take 2 or 3 of there super mutant buddies out with them lol. But it makes it hell to loot all the bodies when they got blown into bits over a 1 mile radius :(.

Dude you don't know what you're talking about lmao.

Quote from fallout 4 'supermutants orders' note:

"KILL

LOOT

RETURN"

Their primary objective is looting and improving their booty stack so to speak. In the original fallout 1 the supermutants WORSHIPPED the master that created them and did anything he said. He was a man. If the master asked them to have suicide bombers, they probably would've, but seeing as there literally is no supermutant organization(atleast as far as we know because bethesda gives no backstory to them in fallout 4) we can assume these are individual groups of independent marauding super mutants and in such a case there's no reason that with their primary desire to loot they would be going around committing suicide and destroying the very most important thing they're after, loot because when you set off a mininuke beside the person you want to loot, not only does the person die, but all of their loot is destroyed and so is the supermutant. There is no logic around this and despite them being mostly illogical creatures they're not going to make actions that jeprodize not only what they're after, but themselves.

They may loot but it's not their primary objective.

Kill is.

On the role playing aspect, I view the Suicide Super Mutants as the dumbest of the dumb. They are only slightly smarter than those Mutant dogs, even that is debateable.

As to dealing with them, if you scope on the right arm you can see the little red light, which I have come to assume is the trigger device upon the bomb itself. Aim for that and watch the him and a couple of his buddies go up in a large explosion. Once you do it once, it will provide hours of entertainment.

They don't specify "commit genocide against humans" or anything, plus you gotta kill to loot so...

strong is far from friendly.. have you actually had him as your companion? he wont shut up about he cant wait until super mutants KILL EVERYTHING.. he is only following you because he mistakenly believes you can make him powerful enough to wipe out humans completely.

in fact he mentions several times he hates humans... with the exception of the SS who he thinks is strong enough to make him stronger so that he can wipe out all the other humans and rejoin the super mutants with his new "power"
