the expansion MUST be in high rock.

no more frickin' teleporting to expansion.. with high rock we could just cross the border and have a huge gameworld to play. (and some nice daggerfall nostalgia)

This would make more sense to me. Maybe Summerset should be its own game, after all. I've never played daggerfall, bc it doesn't work on my laptop, but I've always thought it would be pretty flippin sweet to see the Breton homeland! :D

I want Summerset Isle to be a game of it's own. And I have said for a long time now that I hope I live long enough to play it. At the rate of one new game every 4-5 years in this series and the number of provinces left to make games centered around it could be to late if it's Summerset Isle is last. :(

isn't Summerset Isle the home of the high elves? on the other side of the map? tamriel is not a planet, it is not round like earth, so they're not next to each other.

Your always hearing characters talking about how they are going to go to summerset isle and relax. Wouldn't it be funny if Bethesdas expansion was one in which you were teleported to summerset Isle, became a werewolf and began terrorizing the snobby tourists. It would certainly change the tone of the game. And it would most likely be very fun. Just a thought.

Nah, Summerset should be its own game.

I actually think they will never base a game around the summerset isles. Remember it is a vacation spot. If bethesda ever made a full game around this island it would turn the whole franchise into a joke.

The summerset isles was the home province of the High Elves before they conquered Cyrodiil. Also they are a massive set of islands. They should have a lot of secrets. They're a vacation spot simply because of it's tropical setting.

WHAT?????
were does it say its a vacation spot??? http://www.imperial-library.info/content/tamriel-map-official, an full of anchient and powerful magics and mages. Further, not only is it not a tourist spot; YOU CAN'T GO TO CRYSTAL TOWER IF YOU ARE NOT AN ALTMER OR HAVE SPECIAL PERMISSION. Thats like the opposite of what you are describing.

From the different interviews I've read, the developers aren't planning on doing any expansions. They are more likely to do DLCs like the ones in Fallout 3. It is a good bet that they won't be using actual provinces for DLC content, these are likely to be used in future Elder scrolls games. ( Listen to the latest uk xbox 360 magazine podcast.)

As for the Summerset Isles being a vacation spot, even the most tranquil and idyllic lands can be invaded, suffer natural disasters, or have some deadric jerk appear to subjugate, exploit, or consume them at a whim.

they are not planning on doing expansions that are as big as Shivering Isles, but they never said they weren't going to do expansions any more, they just won't be as big. Summerset Isle as an expansion would be akward. it should be a standalone.

It's been a while since I read The Provinces of Tamriel, but Summerset Isle, I think, could be small enough for an expansion. I assume Summerset Isle is about the same size as Solsthiem or The Shivering Isles. But Bethesda will most likely save using Summerset Isle until they make a game based solely in Summerset Isle.

Actually if the map of Tamriel is to be believed, then Summerset Isles is almost the same size as Skyrim. Sadly not expansion material, perhaps its own game, but not an expansion.

yeah i am. if you honestly think that a summerset isle full game would be good. Then you need to rethink why you play elder scrolls games.

I think it is you who needs to rethink your attachment to the game. Summerset Isles is an archipelago that we know next to nothing of... Except that it is dominated by magic, is believed to have been occupied by the Sload and they still use their necromancy in attacks on the Isles, the closest province to the Maormer and the believed landing point of the Aldmer.

You're right, Bethesda could never do something with any of those.

I'd much rather have a Summerset Isle game. It's been a popular, requested location for a game for quite a while, now. They originally planned to make Summerset Isle the setting of TES III, rumors about it being the location of TES IV were present, polls I've seen showed quite a few people hoping for Summerset Isle to be the location of TES V, and I still strongly support a future game in the Isle. An expansion would not do justice to, arguably, the more interesting province in Tamriel. Why would anyone want a mere expansion for the entire province, simply because it's small in comparison to other provinces? We've been over this in many threads, already. The size of the Isle has nothing to do with its portrayal, in-game, and even if the size mattered, they could for a one-for-one scale, if they wanted, and that would be far larger than the last two Elder Scrolls games. All Elder Scrolls games have followed different scales for their gameworlds in comparison to one another and they could easily have the game focusing on Summerset Isle continue the trend of different scales.

With the exception of Broken Steel, none of the Fallout DLC took place in the DC wastelands...which is why I think it'd be really interesting to briefly visit an area of a different province similar to how Bethesda tackled Point Lookout.

It offered quite a bit in terms of content.

A TES based on Summerset would be a very magic-centered kind of game, IMO. Which would be interesting. Magic in TES is interesting enough for this to be an idea ripe for becoming its on full length product.
