Summerset Isle Expansion?

Post » Mon May 30, 2011 12:20 pm

Your always hearing characters talking about how they are going to go to summerset isle and relax. Wouldn't it be funny if Bethesdas expansion was one in which you were teleported to summerset Isle, became a werewolf and began terrorizing the snobby tourists. It would certainly change the tone of the game. And it would most likely be very fun. Just a thought.

I don't know about the whole werewolf thing--an option to become one would be okay, of course, as long as you get the choice to cure yourself instead of being one. However, I love the idea of having the ability of going to Summerset Isle in an expansion. That would be pretty cool. :D

It's been a while since I read The Provinces of Tamriel, but Summerset Isle, I think, could be small enough for an expansion. I assume Summerset Isle is about the same size as Solsthiem or The Shivering Isles. But Bethesda will most likely save using Summerset Isle until they make a game based solely in Summerset Isle.

I actually think they will never base a game around the summerset isles. Remember it is a vacation spot. If bethesda ever made a full game around this island it would turn the whole franchise into a joke.

I dunno, I think Summerset deserves a stand alone game, there's too much discovery value in it.

again its a vacation spot. There are most likely very few monsters. How could they possibly make a full game. In my opinion it would taint TES itself. However it would make a brilliant expansion.

yeah i am. if you honestly think that a summerset isle full game would be good. Then you need to rethink why you play elder scrolls games.

What Lands are still to come and what is so great about them if Black Marsh and Somerset Isle cant come as an Expansion Set because you guys say they are the size of The Shiviring Isle

EDIT: in reply to an above poster, Summerset Isles are way bigger than Solstheim and the Shivering Isles, IMO it should be a standalone game^^

Actually it's the home province of the altmer and one of the last provinces to join the empire and even then it took the power of the Numidium to conquer it. And the rumors in Oblivion was that there was daedra worship going on there. Not that it was a nice vacation spot. And it could actually match Morrowind for weirdness.

after reading this wiki I changed my mind. I did not realize it was such a diverse place. Thought it was just beaches. Perhaps it does deserve its own game. End of discussion.

Its not just a vacation spot. Its the home of the Psijic Order, its location in the south makes it at extreme risk from the Sloads (who are extremely powerful necromancers) it could also act as a good starting point to show bits of Pyandonea, increased Daedra worshiping could have an impact, there is http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Pocket_Guide_to_the_Empire,_3rd_Edition/Summerset to worry about. Heck, it could be a good area to show the Wereshark.
A lot of the islands danger would come from the sea most likely, along from its own inhabitants.

ugh just as i posted in another thread you've got to be [censored] kiding me.

Summerset Isle will NOT be an expansion for Skyrim its like 1000miles away from Skyrim.
Every expansion bethesda has done for Morrowind and Oblivion has been centrally located with the exclusion of the shivering Isles it will NOT happen and it ShouldN'T happen
And besides it DOES deserve its own game

the expansion MUST be in high rock.

no more frickin' teleporting to expansion.. with high rock we could just cross the border and have a huge gameworld to play. (and some nice daggerfall nostalgia)

From the different interviews I've read, the developers aren't planning on doing any expansions. They are more likely to do DLCs like the ones in Fallout 3. It is a good bet that they won't be using actual provinces for DLC content, these are likely to be used in future Elder scrolls games. ( Listen to the latest uk xbox 360 magazine podcast.)

As for the Summerset Isles being a vacation spot, even the most tranquil and idyllic lands can be invaded, suffer natural disasters, or have some deadric jerk appear to subjugate, exploit, or consume them at a whim.

Why does Summerset Isle feel Elvish and yea i would very much like to see it a Game of its Own.

I suppose after Skyrim, we will wait 5 Years again for the Next Game.

Whatever Deadric or Land is left, a Poll is required to what should be Expansion and what Land should be next.

Black Marsh or Summerset Isle and i would think if Bethesda could Force all Deadric Princes (Shiviring Isle as a DLC

Focus on the Main Game, while releasing DLC

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the other, possibly less hostile planes of oblivion as DLC's over other provinces.
Maybe Moonshadow (Azura's Plane)
I would also love to see Apocrypha (Hermaeus Mora) Its an endless library containing all forbidden knowledge. Could learn some interesting stuff there.

EDIT: It would be rather ironic (and funny) to see Meridia's realm invaded by undead (thing she hates the most) caused by another Prince.

I do find it hilarious how outlandish requests get in these forums. You want another reigion as an expansion. Oh, and also become a wearwolf. I suppose you wan't zombie hitler on a jetpack too? :P

I know wearwolves are awsome and should be in game and all but... not enough to be mentioned in every thread! :lmao:

Im not so sure that we will have a five year wait anymore. Fallout was a problem but not anymore since Bethesda Game Studios handed it to Obsidian it'll prolly be a 3 year wait now
as for new vegas it was like a test run for Obsidian to get they're feet wet

as for the deadric princes and princesses from what i read on uesp they are inhospitable lands that will more than likely not have anymore DLCs going to them because mortals are killed on sight

But i am all in favor of a DLC in Blacklight of Morrowind

According to http://bquick.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/TamrielMap.jpg map, Summerset Isle seems too big for an expansion and I think that it should have game of it's own or next TES could include Summerset Isle, Valvenwood and Elsweyr at once since they are not that big provinces and I think that technology would allow them to make it that way.
TES after that could ignore Black Marsh and they could go for TES VII: Tamriel (I have right to dream -_-).
Still, even if ti wasn't too big for an expansion, Bethesda doesn't make expansions anymore if I'm not wrong, but will make only multiple DLC's with smaller chunks (there is an article about it and reasons behind it, but I'm to lazy to search for it :P).
Also, if we could see a part of Tamriel in a expansion set, I would rather take a look at rest of the Morrowind.
With all this war going on there and Argonians owning them, I think there is potential for a good story that could connect with Skyrim one.

There won't be an expansion for Skyrim. Didn't you hear the podcast?
Only small or medium DLCs.

what? he needs to rethink why he plays them? maybe he plays them differently, its elderscrolls be what you want go where you want....maybe you need to rethink your statement. besides they could make it a non vacation spot somehow.

Yeah. Besides, Summerset Isles is about the size of Vvardenfell so they can easily scale it to a full sized world.
