I bet they just took all the beggars, put them in training camps, and splattered them against the empire.

.
Yes a race that believes themselves superior to all others, with a genocidal government that put the poor in um “training camps”.
That doesn’t sound familiar.

Why do peasants fight all wars? Why do they always send the poor?

You're thinking of the third reich and the third reich didnt send all their poor people into concentration camps. When I said training camps, I meant they would train them and use them as ammunition to throw at the empire.

Ok. I just misunderstood what you meant by training camps, I thought you meant something more sinister.

Well using them as ammunition makes more sense. Unless they refuse to fight. Then it's time to hit the showers. Muahahaha.

It says somewhere that the Thalmor where "purifying" their race, so how many poor or impure Altmer and Bosmer died?

Well it only makes sense to make them fight your war for you. Every country makes the poor fight the wars. I bet the Thalmor sent them all at the Imperial City, where thousands died to take it, and the rest died when Mede retook the city.

And that is why the Empire needs to fund a Necromancer's Guild.

I remember that a lot of Altmer hair styles (for women anyway) from Morrowind were very Greek/Roman in appearance, so I often thought of Altmer uniforms being robe-based (and it seems my assumption was right, judging from the Thalmor and Psijic robes) and in a system similar to how the Romans operated. Consuls had different robes than the Senators, who had different robes from the Councillors/Magistrates, and so on and so on.

I thought the Altmer were more into glass or insect wings. Wasn't the deep sea stuff from the Sload and/or the Maormer?

It's an island nation. Fashion ensorcelled with sea creatures seems reasonable.

I never said it didn't. Just not sure if it applies to the Altmer.

Come to think of it, isn't the coral-culture from ancient Altmer?

Was thinking more aesthetics than materials. But yes.

There's ancient coral on Summerset, at least... I think it's uncertain whether those structures were made by the Altmer of antiquity or found by them.

I remember reading about that, though I do not recall where.
I do remember the passage leaving a Lovecraftian impression on me, I got the notion that they were Sload structures, which would not be unlike Lovecraft tales about people finding odd ruins on an island risen from the sea.

3PGE, I believe. I didn't get that impression, but I haven't had the pleasure of Lovecraft. They've locked those books up in Special Collections, at my university, and I've not had the time to find them elsewhere.

Oh thats a shame.
Some people say that despite their harrowing atmosphere and fever-dream imagery they are full of cliches, but then you have to point out that these tales are in fact the origin of these cliches.
Really worth a read if you can find it. Try a second hand book store, I often find cheap little gems in one of those :)
