[WIPz] Summerset - Land of the Altmer

Post » Tue Feb 15, 2011 4:58 pm

I think I figured it ut. I copied down the vertex cells of the Summerset region and am going to make the same area...and dang it. As Im typing this I realize it wont work. The cell coordinates wont be the same.
EDIT: Now the Summerset Worldspace has no dimensions. Just flat land...
Sloping on the very edges, but all of it underwater...

...what I would do is

1. copy the landmass into its own worldspace using TESAnnwyn ....only the landnass

2. copy the regions from the Summerset.esp ( not the worldspace cell data) into your esp using Tes4edit ( add function)

3. use the this basic regions taken from my esp for creating new regions in your new worldspace ( region editor)

4. generate items and pathgrids for this region(s) ..takes alot of time...

hope this helps

I'm so reluctant to go to these new forums now, but I just had to post this link. When I saw the picture, my first thought was wow who already created Summerset!?
Here's the link:

I saw some of those pictures myself and I was wondering if that was just a single cathedral or if there's more to it.

It is, the link is under the picture in the comments.

But I reckon that it is assembled out of million pieces and that it would be a huge performance hit.

The ships don't look bad either :) The Altmer have a huge armada, would be strange if we wouldn't see ships there ;)

I agree completely with what Lady Nerevar said.

Think creativity of mad looking buildings. I'm almost thinking of the Crystal Fortress in the Dark Crystal but a light more "divine" building like structures.

Those ships look like mr_siika's, available on Nexus, and already used in onra's "Summerset Landscapes" Firsthold WIP.

@Googlepox

I think the guards in Summerset should wear the "Elfenwacht" armor:

I am considering actually making the mod take place in the Tamriel worldspace. I mean, we already have a heightmap and landscape, objects, and pathgrids, why redo it? i think we shouldnt. Plus, the only real reason we made it in a new worldspace was because of the map thing. Well we could just attach the Summerset map to a map of southern Tamriel, and when new mods get out, somone can combine the maps. Maybe after the first release we'll move it to a new worldspace. For now, it seems as if it would be cooler to be able to sail to Summerset... After, all thats what the heightmaps are made for.
P.S., we could become something like Illiana's Elsweyr mod, she didn't put hers in its own worldspace, and as long as we dont screw with Elsweyr and Valenwood, it will be fine.
EDIT: Someone, please give me an idea on what I should retex the Telvanni tileset to look like... I can't make progress in Skywatch until someone does.

Not sure why we were moving the landspace to begin with.

I mean I can get you a Unique world space no prob. I had made one myself. Anywho.

I'm still having the checkered land issues. Maybe it's something loaded wrong. I haven't clue.

I have three Flora concepts going and I'm starting work on the textures. I'll also be doing a unigue ground cover for the plains Something the reflects the new tree's foliage.

I have a popular type, a blown up Bansai, and alien Bamboo. pics coming soon.

Awesome...
I figured out how to retex the tileset. I agve the interiors a brighter gold color, the bark a green, and the other material a white. It looks pretty cool.

you have permission to use the heightmaps anyway but it would be really cool to have it in the tamriel worldspace...as you said the sailing community grows and just think what cool quests are possible which never can be realized in other worldspaces...last but not least we make more progress when joining forces than building two Summersets....:-)

Yeah it would seem that with all the expansions going on that maps are going to fall behind for a while.

One thought crossed my mind to make do with and that is find a way to create temporary maps that are part of inventory that can be easily found. You would not have the interactive thing but then a person would not be lost and could refer to the map (with minimal landmarks marked) for reference.

like a scroll with a map image on it.

A temporary solution.

please same world space. vote 1 for that.

very good point about the maps...would be also a better rollplay experience ..going to buy or find a map of the new region ..having them in your inventory and then use the needed one for a specific region or province...much more realistic as well....would be cool if someone could do this :-)

for the maps in general...new maps are on the way...skyrim will be looking realy really cool :-)

cheers

Yes, the guards should wear that. owever not all of them should.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe split the guards in to two groups:

1. "sword fighters" using the Elfenwacht armor
- http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14747

2. "battle mages" using Newbs Armored Robes

Yes... I like the map idea. That could be a new map revolution. Not relying on the world map in the mjournal screen, but having to actually open a map scroll... Much like the Knights of the Nine wayshrine scroll...
And strupekutter, I think maybe the "Battlemages" should wear one of these: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20498 It looks cooler to me, and seems to fit.
So I guess its settled, for now atleast, that the Summerset will be set in the Tamriel worldspace. I already started work using the retextured Telvanni tileet to make Skywatch. The basic layout is on the platforms all the way up the mountain, with towers at the top, and a large dock at the bottom. At the end of the dock is the Telvanni tower lighthouse.

Yes the Altmer's version of Ayleid ruins: the ruins of the Sloads. Will we be able to use them?
