Sun glaring through textures

i have strange problem http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/9897/screenshot0dx.jpg sun is glaring through textures. using oblivion+sivering islands+knights of the 9, version 1.2.0416
my PC: AMD 945/2 Gb Ram/460 GTX

There are already two threads in the mods sub-forum devoted to this, mine and a later one that got much more attention. It seems to be an issue unique to the GTX400-series card and/or their drivers. So far all who have reported suffering from it run either the 460, 470, or 480. (I have a 470.) Unless some new info has surfaced of which I'm unaware, no solution has been found. Several 400-series owners (both here and at the nVidia forums) claim they don't have the issue, but in each case I'm aware of they use non-standard settings or visual-enhancement mods that work around the problem.

Wish I had better news for ya, but those earlier threads haven't been updated in some time. You might want to do a search for 'em in the Mods forum to get a better feel for what others have noticed and tried. That said, MY thread is fairly worthless now, since back then I was a lone-wolf and we all assumed the problem was somehow mod related.

Never seen something like that.Can u tell me the video options u use?i think its about lighthing.wich u use,HDR or Bloom?

I have this problem also and I have a GTX 480.

This problem is also new to drivers 260.99 for both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. For Oblivion, it occurs before too.

I posted a thread on Nvidia forum : http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=183281&st=0.


Something happened in the drivers. It is not normal that I don't have the problem in Fallout with 260.89 and then suddenly I have it with 260.99 (both complete clean reinstallation of the whole computer).

ManuelG, NVIDIA Technical Support on the Nvidia Forum, is aware of the problem. Nvidia drivers team is supposed to have tested this and was unable to reproduce it.


I don't know of any solution except disabling HDR (and yet, even Bloom seems to pass through...)


A new driver is supposed to be released soon (265.XX). I can't wait to check it.


EDIT: I hope they will solve it. Because Oblivion and the Fallouts are my main game.
