super minimal mod list - is this load order ok

Post » Fri Jul 29, 2011 6:59 pm

I've decided to do a super-minimal playthrough, due to hating CTDs so much when getting very far into the game. Could someone with a brain take a look at this load order and make sure it is ok before I start playing? Pretty please?

GameFile0=Bloodmoon.esm
GameFile1=Morrowind.esm
GameFile2=Tribunal.esm
GameFile3=Morrowind Patch v1.6.5-BETA.esm
GameFile4=BT_Whitewolf_2_0.esm
GameFile5=Rise of House Telvanni.esm
GameFile6=TR_Data.esm
GameFile7=TR_Map1.esm
GameFile8=TR_Map2.esm
GameFile9=Better Bodies.esp
GameFile10=DB_Attack_Mod.esp
GameFile11=Galsiahs Character Development.esp
GameFile12=GCD better balanced birthsigns.esp
GameFile13=GCD StartScript for Trib or Bloodmoon.esp

New problem - while testing MGE, I cannot load any saves, it CTDs while on the initializing part. Any help??

Considering the fact that none of them conflict with each other (that I'm aware of), I don't see a problem. That's usually when you want to change your load order, when you have conflicts.

First of of all, that is not your Load Order, so we cannot really help you on that. (the ini doesn't list the proper Load Order,,, but you can generate one with Wrye Mash or Mlox)
But I don't believe those mods conflict anyways.

Use http://code.google.com/p/mlox/wiki/Mlox. It will answer your question.

Which version of MGE? What kind of graphics card do you have? Are your drivers up to date? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=3b170b25-abab-4bc3-ae91-50ceb6d8fa8d

Please post their contents of warnings.txt file which is found in Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind folder, because without it we can't give much help. :)

I'm using version '3.8.0b', my graphics card is a geforce 240, and yes all the drivers are up to date. I used the same card in another machine, and MGE worked fine, so I'm pretty sure it isn't that.

Should I perhaps try downloading another version of MGE? XL or something?

about using MLOX - I have it, but unfortunatelty I get an error , that I just posted over in the MLOX thread no less. Looking in MLOX though, this seems to be my load order -

Morrowind.esm
Tribunal.esm
Morrowind Patch v1.6.5-BETA.esm
Bloodmoon.esm
TR_Data.esm
TR_Map1.esm
TR_Map2.esm
BT_Whitewolf_2_0.esm
Rise of House Telvanni.esm
Better Bodies.esp
DB_Attack_Mod.esp
Galsiahs Characters Development.esp
GCD StartScript for Trib or Bloodmoon.esp
GCD better balanced birthsigns.esp

looking at that, should Bloodmoon.esm not be above the Morrowind Patch?

MGE has a problem with loading in an exterior cell if you have distant land active. If you can, load into an interior cell first, then load the save in the exterior cell. For example: if you're standing outside in Seyda Neen and save, then quit and load that save later, MGE will crash. However, if you saved in the C&E office before you went outside and saved, you could load the C&E save, then load the other save once the game has started. I don't know if the MGE developers are working on that issue or not, so I always save in an interior before I quit. As for GCD, Gluby made a fixed start script, but I can't seem to find it for some reason. :( I can put it up on 4shared unless someone else has a link to it.

ah ok, thanks for the tip, I will try that now. Weird though, as I have used mge on a previous computer, and never had that problem?

Huh. Can you start a new game without crashing? I'd try a new game and then save after you talk to that last Imperial before you exit the C&E office completely, then quit and reload that. If that works, there's something going on in your save that's been corrupted.

Except you cannot create a Save until you exit the C&E Office. ;)
So exit the building, a MessageBox pops up, then go back inside and Save.
