No 21:9 support? Promised no limitation on resolution.

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:10 pm

I'm using the Acer Predator X34 monitor with 3440x1440 resolution. But I can't find any resolutions supporting 21:9 aspect ratio.

Am I missing something?

On the official twitter page, Bethesda Softworks (@Bethesda), it was stated that:

- "Fallout 4 is 1080p & 30fps on Xbox One and PS4. Resolution and FPS are not limited in any way on the PC."

https://twitter.com/bethesda/status/613008088824741888

How can I fix this?
Thanks

H.Krieger, there is a manual config tweak you can make that will force the game into 1440p, or even 4K. But, beprepared to run into additional issues once you do so: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1544670-either-4k-resolution-or-gtx-780-ti-issue/

Here's a page with the instructions on how to apply the tweak: http://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-tweak-fallout-4s-hidden-graphics-options/

You can edit the Fallout4Prefs.ini in your "Documents\My Games\Fallout4" to set resolution at iSize H and iSize W, however the HUD stretches and makes it unplayable.

Theres also no 5:4 and 4:3 support. And these configs tweaks work, but they seem to mess up quite a bit in the game. For example by unlocking the FPS limit and using 5:4 resolution I gained lightning speed movement and the game was generally faster paced even though I tried Vsync .I really hope Bethesda will patch aspect ratio support not only for those two resolutions and available options ingame that make you change the build in vsync, change the max FPS to unlimited and such...

Before release it was clearly stated that there will be no limitations on resolutions.

Then why do you have to manually tweak stuff in the .ini-file (and mess up your HUD)? You would think they would have actual support for 21:9 aspect ratio.

Any official comments yet about this deception? Or know of any upcoming patches that will actually support all aspect ratios?

Thanks

They're not limited. They're not fully supported either.

It works for a given value of "works" in so far as the game allows rendering and displaying at the defined resolution and frame-rate but no guarantees are made as to consistency or quality of the experience, nor is any graphical interface provided to enable these options.
