Supporting Crytek.

Post » Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:56 am

You know, this is the first game that I've owned, and even played, that had the name Crytek in it. The game has potential, but I'm going to just assume that PS3 doesn't see a patch for this game in a really long time. The most they've showed us, is that they care about one community more than the rest of us.

To me, that shows favoritism, and is completely unprofessional. If they were planning on treating us, the way that they are treating us, why would they even make the game for consoles. Make it for PC, and be done with it, because if they're not going to support me, then I'm not going to support them.

I will do everything that i can to steer everyone that I know away from this game. There has not been a single bit of loyalty shown to us, so why should we stay supportive? There is no reason for it, at all. As far as I can tell, from these forums, there has been one post by a moderator in the PS3 forums, and that would be the "Welcome to these boards!" thread. Really?

You can already push out a timely patch for PC, but you can't even come over here, and drop a hint that you even know that something is wrong with the game? You just think that we aren't going to notice, or do you just not care? I'd have to say that Crytek, so far, for me, is one of the worst companies that I've ever seen, when it comes to gaming support.

Let me first say that I agree with your ideas entirely, but you're making some pretty serious accusations.

Regarding professionalism, it's entirely professional to enter a market because it's lucrative and get out what you put in. If their lack of support for yours and my console means we tell people they should buy the game on PC or not buy it, that's a reasonable consequence of a mistake they made and hopefully their bottom line will inform them that they need to change.

But worst game company? really? You don't play a large variety of games do you? Bethesda's handling of Star Trek: Legacy was attrocious and remains with many unpatched bugs to this day. Same goes for Cryptic's handling of Star Trek: Online and Champions Online. Regarding user support and communication, Obsidian has dropped the ball far worse than Crytek on almost every game it's ever made. KoTOR 2, NWN 2 and Fallout: New Vegas all released with a massive number of bugs on every system, and the PC versions all patched faster and adequate communication was not given to all platforms. And if you're leveling an allegation of "worst," all of this is entirely laughable next to 3D Realms who got fired and sued and their license taken away from them after "working" on Duke Nuke Em Forever for 12 years and having almost nothing to show for it.

No, I don't play many games. I mean, I do love all of the big titles that come out. Personally, I've never run into a company that doesn't like supporting their game, no matter what console. I mean, yes, there have been some times when a company will come out and say that there is a problem with one of their products, and not do anything about it for a long time, if ever. But, that is doing more than Crytek is doing, right now.

Problem is, I don't know how it is on the PS3 side, for the most part. I recently just re-bought my PS3, and I've been more of an avid Xbox 360 player, than anything. Don't get me wrong, I love my PS3, but it seems as though the lack of support is getting incredibly bad for it. Guerrilla Games has had to deal with it's fair share of criticism as of late, and I know that it took them awhile, but they're showing initiative, and trying to solve the problems being reported.

Like I said, this is the first game that I've purchased with the Crytek name on it. I didn't know what to expect coming into the game. Honestly, most of the time, I base my decision off of the company that is on the game. If it is a company that is well known, and I've liked their games before, chances are, I'm going to add it to my collection. In this case, I've heard nothing but good about Crytek, so I decided that it might be a good purchase. This far in, I'm regretting it.

They've shown absolutely no support here on the forums. However, if you look in the other sections on this site, you'll see that there have been posts made by moderators on this site. That bothers me, and makes me feel like we're being left in the dark, completely. However, those are just my thoughts.

lol @bobsurmom

Anyway, Crytek is still far from the worst at supporting their customers. Again I'd say Cryptic and Obsidian have them beaten pretty handily. But Cryptic does try to talk to their customers, and it becomes clear that the development rush imposed by their producer Atari is what causes such poor quality control. I'm not sure what Obsidian's excuse is.

I'd guess the same thing happened here. Crytek and EA came up with a release date, and Crytek didn't finish the game in that time and EA couldn't tolerate extending the timeline. They're new to the console market, I'd give them just a little bit of slack. But this is coming from someone who owns at least five other games with worse customer support than Crysis 2. They've demonstrated excellent game design, story and graphical features and are sure to get the idea from their fans and the scathing IGN review that their console supporters expect more quality control.

This sounds very plausible. The first Crysis came out on the PC and no one really thought its sequel would ever make it to consoles. I think Crysis 2 is actually the first console game that Crytek developed. I've played the XBox beta, the official XBox demo, as well as the PS3 demo. I could tell that this game was rushed. If EA was to be blamed for being strict with the deadline, then I wouldn't be surprised.

Crytek managed to improve the 360 demo over the beta by a lot within less than a month. We're busy complaining about a rushed product even though it's been barely a week since its release. The game already surpassed my expectations, and I have no doubt that it'll only get better throughout the next couple of months.

I moved over here to the PS3 forums from the PC forums because they all just moan on their about how Crytek has abandoned PC and we get no Dx 11.

Turns out you guys over here are moaning that Crytek doesn't care about consoles only PC. What a **** joke.

What the hell? I come into the console forums to check on the situation and you guys are talking about PC favoritism. That, despite what you might believe, doesn't exist at all. It's actually the other way around. Crysis did not play anything like Crysis 2; that being said, Crysis 2 is a lot closer to the CoD formula for design to better fit on consoles. Not to mention the severe lack of PC support on our side; they cut out large numbers of features prior to release for God-knows-what reason, and they won't talk about this and they delete threads mentioning them.

It looks like Crytek is ignoring the PS3 and PC, but from what I've seen with the 360 (with the largest sales figures), it's had the best launch.

So, this effectively proves that Crytek sold out on the PC side, is ignoring the PS3 side, and doesn't have to do much with the 360 side. It's the **** of the century here.

And here is why: cry-tom has replied to a post on the ps3 forum already that was talking about the same as you were here. To paraphrase him, he had said that they are aware of all the issues however it seems for every 1 post they make as a reply.100 more threads are made speaking about the game's issues. They are working on a patch as we speak. I rather them take their time to deliver a quality patch, than having them release a fast half ass patch. Be calm people!!!

Cry-Tom posted on the PS3 forum after this thread had been made. Moron.

Either way, I still think that the PC is getting just a slight bit more love than the PS3. After all, you have had a patch. Lol. I don't know, I just feel let down, once again, on the PS3 side of things. I'm trying to build my PS3 collection, other than just waiting for PS3 exclusives, but it looks like, no matter what game it is, Xbox will always get the best.

I can't complain, I have an Xbox, too, I was just hoping that this game was going to turn out as good as everyone had been talking about. I guess this is just another classic example of a game being extremely over hyped.
