Supreme Magicka + nGCD/Progress?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 4:49 am

Is the Supreme Magicka mod and nGCD + Progress compatible with each other? Want to boost my Magic system a bit, but dunno if these mods will mess each other up, since nGCD handles magicka regeneration etc and Progress the skill progression, and from what I understand, Supreme Magicka changes both =/

Anyone using these together, or can show me some other similar Magic mod that is compatible?

Yes. Just turn off magic-based skill progression in one or the other. I recommend turning it off in the SM INI file. The relevant setting is in the group right at the top of the INI.

nGCD is a leveling mod. SM is a magic overhaul. They are different types of mods. Overlap should be minimal when using these two different types of mods. The same is true for the other leveling mods and other magic overhauls.

Ok. Yea, I know nGCD is a leveling mod, but it handles Magicka regeneration and how Willpower etc affects it, something that SM does as well. Anyway, I'll take your word for it ^^,

I can see how not knowing what exactly the two mods due could lead to that concern. If you look at leveling mods, and race rebalancing mods, namely Race Balancing Project, they often take over the main stats of your character. Of course, along with health and fatigue, that also includes Magicka. A magic overhaul may affect the Magicka pool as well, but there are multiple ways to influence it. Magic overhauls, overhaul the magic sytem, and the magicka pool as a stat is only a little piece of that. Also, these mods you scripts to enforce their settings, so the later loading mod or the one that is script-enforcing a setting wins regardless. Real conflicts between these mods are minimal. Not to mention, the author's are aware of the other popular mods on both sides and would mention compatibility issues if they exist (i.e., turning of MBSP in nGCD or SM.) In the SM INI, you will find multiplier settings for things that affect the magicka pool with the defaults for vanilla, RBP, etc. next to them. You could modify them all to match vanilla or RBP settings, but I think the SM defaults are fine.

Edit: I responded in the OBSE thread about your crash issue, by the way.
