Survival difficulty overhaul - please don't restrict saves

Post » Fri Mar 18, 2016 5:50 am

Agreed on all frustrating counts. Lol.

It's a strange thing that people argue over this when just asking Bethesda to give us a choice over a feature that doesn't prove you are a better player but proves that you have more time on your hands than the next guy. :nope:

Yeah, only real reason to stop sleep save feature should be to save people from losing progress due to the glitch, bug and crash.

It`s really strong and powerful reason as well.

Busy life, mistake made in game, fear of sudden appearance of legendary enemies... don`t qualify for good reason to stop sleep save in survival.

I will tell busy lifers these

1. You can plan to stop game 10 minutes early and sleep ingame.

2. Most sudden real life situation can be addressed by pausing game for 10 minutes or less

3. Emergency? Who the fawkes care about losing 15 minutes of in-game progress when real emergency is happening?!

In all fairness, pizzas are custom made per order; unlike video games.

Try going into a supermarket, opening a prepackaged pizza, and pulling off the olives.

Let me know how the WIFI is in the jail cell... :P

How would they be artificially disabled? The company that made the game is changing their game (well within their rights to do so) to really give a unique experience. What is artificial about that? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't understand your statement.

Also why are you all arguing about it? Regardless of how bent out of shape you get, they're doing it. Its pointless to bicker with each other and get pissy about it when its indefinite. I feel like it should be as hard as it possibly can be because its called survival mode.

From my perspective, this is the problem. People say they want a challenge when they really don't. They want to play the cool awesome new shiny mode so they can talk on forums and talk with peers and say "Yeah bro, I beat it LIKE A BOSS man BEAST MODE!" they don't want to have to face a real challenge and then feel left out when they don't complete the mode but their peers do.

But they don't want it to be too hard. They need it to be a little harder than "Very Hard" but still totally manageable and they can say "Yeah, it was cool man but it wasn't that hard"

As opposed to it being seriously hard. As opposed to them actually having to TRY and possibly fail and even give up because they don't have the chops to beat a video game. People are too entitled to everything.

Last point....Bethesda made Fallout 4. Complaining about what they want to do with their game is like getting seven different ways butthurt that Fallout 4 isn't more like Grand Theft Auto 5.

Just think about that for awhile...it'll sink in! Or maybe it won't...I'm not in charge of any of your intelligence levels.

Thanks for saving me the trouble over the pizza anology.

A more apt comparison is this: the whiners are going to a car lot and asking the dealer to rebuild a 4x4 SUV into a bland, boring crossover sedan. Oh, and nobody else gets to buy a 4x4 either; they must all be rebuilt to suit the needs of princess Demands-a-Lot.

Idea! Instead of us pretending we can't save, how about you guys pretend you're playing Fallout? With imagination, anything is possible!

Totally hear you and agree with your points to an extent. I would only argue the factor of enjoyment. Every single feature in the New Survival mode make me very anxious to enjoy minus no save and no fast travel. Has absolutely nothing to do with challenge to me but with time.

So you think I should drop down a mode which having tried it seemed way too easy and provided no challenge and no fun for me whatsoever, should be the alternative? Again Bethesda has every right to do this but I would just wish that two simple checkmark boxes next to Survival mode with these would be a very welcome feature. I can still play and feel challenged without time waste or frustrating repetition.

I love when people go into anologies so deep they completely lose the inital point of discussion.

Demonstrably untrue. BGS games have been buggy in the past, but F4 is far more stable. At least it is on consoles...so maybe you just need a new PC.

Lol now that was just awful. Seriously though, here's to hoping Bethesda decides to give the player the freedom to choose and still enjoy Survival mode. :goodjob:

No, I think you should fully try survival mode regardless of how save feature turn out to be.

Worst you can do is just learning how to manage your time to play new survival mode.

I don`t really believe in toggle thingy. The developers need to have more faith in their work than just making everything toggle-able.

See, you guys are so close-minded you can't imagine how a person would enjoy the increased difficulty (and resulting tension) that sleep saving will bring. It's been spelled out over and over again on these forums, but y'all repeat these ludicrous lines about snobbery. No one is being a snob. Group A likes the challenges presented by survival overhaul. Group B doesn't, and whines incessantly in hopes it will be watered down to suit their tastes. It's that simple.

There are different types of games for different types of gamers. Survival mode was not created to please all types. Get over it!!

You in turn seem to disregard the valid arguments group b makes.

Is another one of these threads seriously about to take off again with limited information?

Can i have a simple answer from you? What's better.

Option 1. Survival overhaul without saving:

Group A - happy

Group B - not

Option 2. Survival overhaul with saving:

Group A - happy (noone makes you save and fast travel, remember?)

Group B - happy

Please, just a simple answer: Option 1 or Option 2?

Option 2 can possibly have some unhappy Group A...

Seriously, guys.

Even with sleep save you guys will be saving just about every 10 minutes minimum because the bed is everywhere and it`s the best way to heal for free....

This 100%. At the very least, people need to wait and actually play before they demand changes.

I love freedom and choice *more* than the next guy. But when you're talking about making a good game, it's not as simple as leaving every choice to the user.

This couldn't be more true. Bethesda says "we're doing this" and Group A says "Cool, bring it" and Group B says "NO! WHY! WAAAH! WHAT IF ITS TOO HARD!?"

Be a winner. Be in Group A. :tops:

So apparently Group A can't be happy, unless Group B is not.

Well, that's actually a common human thing, but kinda sad.(

Both groups can be happy...I'll tell you how;

Bethesda does Survival mode just like they want too...Group A is happy and says bring it. Group B makes resolution to stop being sissies and svck it up or don't play. Group B hardens up, becomes a better person by thinking "I should svck it up about a lot of things I whine about in life" and suddenly Group B gets better jobs, better friends, better significant other and becomes happier because a Bethesda video game taught them a valuable lesson that sometimes, you just have to svck it up.

Therefore, everyone wins! Both groups happy and the world keeps on keeping on :mohawk:

There are some people who will not save until done playing, y'know. What about those people? Are you going to say 'tough luck, save often, bed often' to them when they just want to play the game, and save when they are done?

Option 1, here's why: survival mode is made to appeal to a certain type of gamer. There's nothing wrong with that. Wasteland workshop will be ignored by many players who are not into settlement building. People who are not into difficult games should ignore survival mode, instead of demanding it be neutered.

Lol. The Beth devs have enough confidence, trust me they need no more. Freedom is nice, that's all.

You are ignoring all of my points on the I LOVE SURVIVAL mode issue. Just saying, it would be nice to enjoy Survival without 2 restrictions to gameplay mechanics that I know I will not enjoy because it will stretch gameplay and add repetitious gameplay to a game that I like. It will have no impact on challenge and the arguments thus far for this are weak at a strength of 1 maybe 2.

I will give Survivor mode a chance though and will be the first to post if I am wrong as I am wrong many a time in life. Thank God by His grace I do not lack the courage to admit when I am wrong. See ya in the Commonwealth and it was great debating you all on this.
