It blocks no one out. People block themselves out. Beta testing needs to be as controlled an environment as possible. It's bad enough people only play betas to "get it first"...

Since Fallout 3 I have learned to stay as far away from all cars including cars in real life. They are just too dangerous.
A mod to disable a mod disabling feature.
Pow, mind explosion!
+1, also for something that will allow me to play with mods enabled.
Off topic: Holy [censored] the new forums are fkin horrible, they make my eyes hurt.
How we gonna deal with all the bugs? Missing terminals, quests can not be completed and so on.
You can just reload from a sleep save from a few hours back, and try it again and hope it works next time.
Funny how the scariest things in the game are cars. I've seen them jump like a hundred feet in the air for no apparent reason, and have had others jump toward me killing me instantly upon impact. Perhaps they are tired of blowing up and have decided to fight back. (but seriously, in survival mode, everyone should stay FAR away from cars).
Something I'd like to see is some type of emergency save feature that could save you if you encounter a bug. Maybe have the game allow us to roll back to an auto-save like once an hour or something. A cool-down keeps us from save scumming (more than once at least), and dissuades us from abusing it.
Yep. It may cause some to really question their priorities...hahaha.
I would not worry too much about mods being disabled until the update leaves Beta.
For a lot of reasons, Bethesda does not want mods affecting the Beta experience. Makes trouble shooting impossible is one.
Every beta so far has disabled mods.
On the other side - mods could really mess up any Survival related accomplishments.
We will know soon enough - for now enjoy the modless Beta.
I can see that being a tool that gets a lot of hate in the beta. Unless it's part of the beta so that they can be 100% sure that if an issue occurs it's doing so because of something in the survival system and not because the user's switching back and forth between the settings.
I really hope that is the case. With Fallout 4, they acknowledged that a huge driving force behind the success of their games has been their mod communities. The promise to bring mods over to the consoles is what I'm talking about here. Nixing mods from a gameplay mode like this would get a lot of hate.
I'm really concerned about the console command system being closed off. That seems like a really really stupid change. Why lock it off to begin with? A few people use it to "cheat" but for the most part it's used to fix the game when it bugs out on you. It will be especially important if they're limiting the save system. If you go into a room and get stuck or something happens, you won't be able to load the last auto-save so you'll be 100% reliant on the console to save your butt.
It will be interesting to see which of these features stay and which ones get trimmed out in the beta.
This.
It's not a problem, it will encourage planning.
It really is survival, with no hand holding.

'I didn't save and my progress is lost, [rant, rant]'
Glad to see they aren't giving in to the baby boomers and making survival mode a true hardcoe expierence.
>.>' You know the baby boomers were like the '40s to '60s right?
There there, it will all be ok... in several hours
I absolutely love everything about this mode, but the disabled console is probably going to prevent me from using it until it's corrected with a mod. I've gotten stuck on textures 15-20 times in this game and had to use TCL to get out. I've had quests get stuck, requiring me to use the console to fix them. I use the console to toggle free mode and get great screenshots. I use the console to make settlement building easier and to get different views of the big picture of my settlements.
I want survival to inconvenience the hell out of my character. I don't want it to inconvenience me as a player. I don't want to lose an hour of progress due to a bug that could have been corrected in 1 second with the console. This isn't adding challenge to the game. It's preventing me from using a tool that I paid to use. Things like debugging consoles are a big reason that I'm a PC gamer. Removing it isn't adding any challenge. It's only preventing me from correcting the numerous and frequent bugs that are in Bethesda's game.
If I die and lose an hour of progress, that's my mistake. If I get stuck on a map texture and lose an hour of progress, it is not my mistake.
Can someone please open another topic for locked mods and locked console? I'd like to hear about the Survival Mode itself from the people who had enough time to try it out.
