Survival Mode Solution

The forums are already blowing up with disputes about Survival mode overhaul. We are all excited to see how much of that actually makes it into the game. Where everyone seems to be split is in changing two major game mechanics - saving and fast travel. A third dispute is concerning bullet sponges.

We can get into everyone's reasons for wanting or not wanting those things to change, but I think Bethesda could implement it in the game and everyone's happy. Here's how.

The difficulty slider remains more or less as is with options ranging from very easy to very hard.

Add a toggle able checkbox 'Survival Mode' that can also be changed at any time. Still allows fast travel and Saving. It would include everything else listed though. This way survival mode can be applied to any difficulty level.

Add another checkbox that is not toggle able and must be chosen from the start of the game 'hardcoe Mode' (this would appear greyed out after chosen) All this does is disables fast travel and allows saving only on sleep.

There you have it. If you want tougher enemies you can have it. If you want easy enemies but survival elements you can have it. If you want the experience without the option of fast travel quick saving - you can have it, but can't change your mind! You can have all of it, some of it, or none of it.

I can see no reason why Bethesda wouldn't implement it like this - it might take a tad more time to test and program it but in the end everyone gets what they want.
